1979 Honda Civic Additional Info:
This auction is for a bronze 1979 Honda Civic 3-door manual. It starts, runs and drives so is a great basis either for restoration or modification.
It has 13" Accord steel wheels with good tyres and even comes with a spare. The bodyshell is in pretty good shape. It's one of the most solid I've ever seen. It does need some welding, the worst part I've found is under one of the driver's seat mounts where the floor has perforated. The floor is otherwise intact with some surface corrosion. The inner wings are solid and straight. The roof was drilled by someone trying to fit a roof rack and there's some dents near the tailgate, but nothing too severe. The engine starts and runs well but it does need tuning and timing. It has the original accessory window trim and rear interior trim pockets. The latter will need some attention as a previous owner had drilled holes in the bottoms to fit aftermarket speakers. The interior will need some work. The dashboard is good but the seats and trim will either need repair or replacement. The old carpet was in a shocking state and had to be pulled out. The best bit is the headlining which should clean up really well. The doors and tailgate do need new seals. I've got some door and window trim in a box in the boot which I'm including with the car but I don't have a tailgate seal. I've been keeping the tailgate taped up to prevent water ingress. There's a non-original steering wheel fitted, but the original is in the boot. There's one front lens missing. The driver's side fender also has a dent.
In short this car is a little weathered around the edges but is still in pretty good shape for it's age. I've seen and owned many of these cars and this is one of the most solid and rust free by far. I was going to do some custom work on it, twin carbs, modified seats etc, but health reasons mean I'm not going to get the chance and reluctantly I need to move it on.
I don't know what the recorded mileage on the car is, the lens has a film of dirt or mold on the inside. I think a previous owner has removed the instrument pod at some point so I'm not sure if it's original anyway.
