1990 Honda CRX SI
This is a 1990 CRX SI. For the last three years it has been the car that I drive the most. I had the intention of restoring it to like new condition, but I realize I don’t have the time or the desire anymore. When I bought this car I knew the engine was not in good condition. A friend was doing a VTEC swap to his CRX SI so I bought his original motor from him. This motor had 95,400 miles on it when I bought it. I put it into this car when it had 98,600 miles on the odometer - the car currently has 112,035 mile on it so I have put an additional 13,435 on the engine for a total of 108,835 on this engine. Before I had the engine installed the timing belt was changed and the water pump was replaced. I also had a new clutch installed and both the clutch and transmission work great. The engine, although it does burn some oil, has run great since day one.
As you can see in the pictures the body is in great condition for a car that is over twenty-five years old. Very few CRXs have as little body rust as this one has. I took and posted good pictures of the rear quarter panels which are the only two areas of rust. The inside of the car is also in good, but not perfect condition. Again I took pictures so you could see for yourself.
I decided to sell this car because two things failed recently and I just don’t have time to deal with them. At the end of last summer the A/C was working fine and one day just stopped. Turns out that the idler pulley for the air conditioning belt fell off. At around the same time the tachometer and gauges on the left side of the dash stopped working. Online they say that it is most likely a ground problem at one of two specific locations. If that is the problem I can’t find it.
The car currently has 112,035 miles on it. Other than the problems listed it has been and is very reliable. In fact, my wife and I drove it to the Outer Banks last year - about 800 miles round trip.
This is a no reserve auction so if you are the high bidder you get the car. I recommend that you come see the car in person before you bid. I realize this is not possible for most bidders so if you want a picture of a specific area please send me a message and I will get it for you. A $500 deposit through PayPal is required from the winning bidder with the balance to be paid in cash when the car is picked up. Good luck bidding!
