We are only the 2nd owner of this car. My dad, Kent, bought this car for my sister back in 2001. The original owners were an older couple in Vacaville who took great care of the car. My dad paid $9,000 for it in 2001. My sister has owned the car the whole time. She drives slow and took pretty good care of it. My dad always helped her keep it well maintained.
This car has never sat, broken down. It's always been fixed when it needed it. Sister has 3 growing kids and a husband, the car isn't big enough for them anymore. So, my dad is selling it to get some of the money back he has put into it, which is a lot of money.
The car currently is in very excellent all around condition. In the last year or 2, a whole ton of maintenance has been done on the car by our personal mechanic. He works out of his garage in Fairfield, he was a Toyota mechanic at a dealership for a long time.
He specializes in Toyota and Honda. Like my family, he is honest, a rarity in the car business. We can refer the new owner to him. Whenever he did work on this car, he gives us a receipt with a list of stuff he fixed etc.
The car has 282,000 miles on it. Mostly freeway miles. Less than a month ago, this work was done to this car; Replaced: Timing Belt, Balance Belt, Balance Shaft Seal, Balance Belt Tensioner, Timing Belt Tensioner, Valve Cover Gasket, Clutch Plate, Clutch Disc, throw out bearing, Engine oil + filter, coolant, transmission oil, Brake Master Cylinder, Both front axle nuts, both wiper blades.
Flushed Brake System, Adjusted Valves, Aired tires. Total cost $1,300. Now I can't promise the new owner will get quite as good of a deal from our mechanic as us. We have been using him for a lot of years now and paid him untold thousands of dollars for working on many of our different cars (Hondas and Toyotas).
In July 2014, this work was done to the car: Complete Valve Job, Surfaced Cylinder Head, Replaced: Head Gasket and all others, thermostat + gsmt, coolant, oil + filter, p/s oil, spark plugs, air filter, wiper blades, Cleaned: throttle body, engine compartment. Charged AC. All tires aired up. Total cost $1,400.
The car has good tires. The paint is ok for it's age, but it does have a long scratch on the trunk lid and some dings in the paint in the rear bumper area, and a small dent near a rear taillight. On the passenger side the car does have hard water spots.
There is a product from a company called "3D" that supposedly is the best in removing hard water spots, but you have to order it online. It gets great reviews online. I would suggest to the new owner to try that.
The interior of the car is not bad at all. The AC works great, manual transmission and clutch are great. Car as cruise control I believe. Power locks and power windows. The passenger window is a bit slow when you try to put it up from all the way down.
The car has an alarm and good stereo with cd player. My sister years ago bought nice aluminum alloy Honda Accord EX rims so the car has those. I believe new muffler was put on not long ago and I think the original catalytic converter was replaced as well. We have a lot of receipts and stuff..
So, if you are interested, give my dad Kent a call at 707-330-4760. He does not use text, you will have to call him. He almost always answers, if not, leave him a voice message and he will call you back asap. We live in Fairfield near the mall. This is a great car that was owned by a good honest family. I believe this car will be very reliable for years to come, after all this work has been done to it.
All new struts were put on the car not long ago, a year or 2 ago. So, good suspension. The car has great brakes. So suspension and brakes are good to go for a long time. Basically the whole car is good to go for a long time now. :) We would keep the car, but my dad uses a truck for work and I have a 91 Accord, so just dont need a 3rd car. Sister has a bigger van she uses now.
So whoever buys this car, please know you are not getting a piece of junk dumped on you. This is truly a great and reliable car right now and for years to come. I think it's also very valuable if you use our mechanic, that will save you a ton of money in the future. And he does top notch work.
The engine runs perfectly, car drives great. Its a 4 cylinder engine. 2.2 I think, something like 135 horsepower? Probably 25 mpg city 30 highway. At one time I had a subwoofer and amp in the trunk. I think it might still be wired for that. The car passed smog recently. Here is a link to some videos I did of the car. The first video shows 54 photos in hd:
