IF BUYING YOU LEGALLY ASSUME COSTS OF SMOG CHECK REPAIRS AND HAULING IT AWAY. It is complete has all its parts that I know of. I am the third owner. It was my moms she bought it around 1999 or so. She bought it from a constuction contractor. He was the original owner my mom the second. Mom was quite easy on the Jimmy hardly ever drove it on the freeway just short 4 mile round trips to the libary grocery store or post office. Mom passed away in 2016 I inherited it from her I used it for a year. It currently has 156781 miles on it.
When mom bought it from the contractor she had the valves adjusted by the official GMC dealer mechanics for about 700 dollars. It did make the engine sound quite good and better. The engine is in quite good shape still, strong engine. When my mom drove me a few times I noticed she would back out of the driveway and go from reverse to drive pretty agressively I said mom you have to come to a full stop before going into drive. Sure enough she later damaged the PINION, she had to have it refurbished or repaired replaced from a mechanic that was about 800 dollars it took a few weeks too and it seemed to be a satisfactory job after the Jimmy ran and drove for near 6 years after. Just letting you know that the PINION was messed with its not factory condition, maybe she damaged other parts as well how she did that back out to drive sudden changes. There are some problems with this Jimmy now. In the last month of me using it for a year it developed some kind of hesitation issue when first accelerating from a stop it would hesitate and not have enough power. Youd have to be carefull not to pull out infront of traffic withought enough time thats for sure. I tested it some, in park the engine would run perfectly, powerfully, In reverse it would act powerfully not hesitating. However in drive it would do that hesitating thing from stops. Perhaps the refurbished pinion is acting up or come loose or whatever thats what I suspect. I tried tuning it up, bought some aftermarket cheapy china parts and sensors it didnt improve it, it seemed to make it worse. I tried doing timing myself with a timing tool and it was a little confusing cause there are two marks on the flywheel thing and perhaps I used the wrong mark. It should be profeshionally timing tuned again thats for sure. I have most of the original sensors here ill try to find them to include with the sale but I might not be able to find them. A few of the connectors I think two or three going to the sensors retaining clips broke from age and brittleness but they were on less crucial parts. I replaced the oil pressure sensor, that repair went very well. So in 2017 I stopped driving it I put it in non op. I had two other perfectly working cars. I drove those. The Jimmy sat from 2017 to 2026 now. I started and ran it just two times in those years to warm and see how its doing. Well I went to do that again this year and there was more problems. I noticed there was a rodents nest under the battery holding plate. That nest is still there. I cant quite reach it with my hands. I noticed three wires had been chewed, some right headlight one severed some other one chewed on some and the main negative cable. I replaced the main negative cable with a new one. Inspected most visible wires look ok. Well I tried and tried to start it. It was getting spark it would run for a second or two from starting fluid spray. So its getting spark. It is not getting fuel. I went under the car and the fuel filter along the frame under the driver side. Well I disconnected the fuel filter on inlet side that comes from the fuel tank, and there is no fuel comeing out when i cycle the key or crank the engine. There is no fuel flow!! Perhaps it is some wireing that dang rodent chewed somewhere, some fuse, some starter relay, perhaps the fuel pump that is located inside the fuel tank got corroded from sitting in 9 year old gasoline. Though there was like 1/6th tank of fuel I put 10 gallons of fresh fuel in its at above half tank now. Perhaps you could put air pressure on that fuel hose line to blow out any clog in the fuel pump. I dunno. It needs new controll arm bushings one is completey gone and others are dry and cracking you can hear it clunk a bit when turning hard left or right from a stop I forget which way. I looked closely and there is a solid metal bar so I wasnt to afraid of the bushings missing. I drove it on the freeway quite a bit and there wasnt a shudder or anything, drove pretty smooth at 65MPH Front windshied is cracked like three directions four foot long or so, it happed from heat after small rock chip. the rest of the windows are ok just front windshield needs replacement. I put a aftermarket stereo it still works pretty good. Tuneds in different fm channels. The two front chairs upholstery is in bad shape though the cushioning is still there. It needs to have chair covers to look nice and be comfortable which it has, they could use washing or replacement, they are basically new but got sun fadded in the years. The back chair is near mint condition never used really see pictures. The floor has staines from coffee or soda. There is a hole roughly 1 foot by 1 foot see drivers side see picture. The interior dash is in nice condition however on the top there are two big cracks that developed from heat see pictures. The glove compartment has a broken left hinge it does open and close with some jiggling it stays closed pretty well. The underhood engine cover heat shield thing is sagging a foot or two see picture. The passenger seat belt is damaged. I have replacement one if I can find it. Ill try to thought I might not be able to find it. The body is in nice condition no accidents that im aware of. One tiny dent near driver side door see picture is about the worst dent I can find its pencil eraser size or less. The paint is dry faded and flaking off several areas as Chevys from the era often do see pictures. Alot of paint areas look ok though. There are 3 of the same kind of tire brand one is some all season one. They all have decent tread. See pictures. Shock or struts absorbers are to soft for my tastes but not all that bad im used to rigid truck shocks. Headlights are not comeing on, turn signals and hazards dome lights are. There is a coat hanger top for the hood release pull back straight carefully it works ok.There Is a picture of how it performed in a smog check on 12/11/2014 to give you a idea how its engine is performing.Does not currently have a batteryMe and mom always kept a locking gas cap on it which it still has on it so fuel wasnt messed with by peopleTheres 10 gallons of fresh fuel I put in this week in the tank.
Holds fluids well, oil, transmission, brakes, power steering, coolant, wiper fluid. Its nice that its a small size vehicle but also a truckIt has Kelsey tow package and a tow hitch maybe the contractor installedIts currently in non op in California since 2017
So,Keep in mind it sat parked from 2017 to 2026 more damage could have occuredFix the drive hesitation issue possible pinion issue, have pinion checked.Fix the fuel pump pressure issue hardware and or electronicsFix the controll arm bushingsFix whatever the rodent might have chewedFix headlight issueGet it smog checked and pay for smog check repairsAnd youd have a descent truck.
There is a fan base of these square body classic Chevy trucks could be a good investment or flip.I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND WARRANTY BOOKLET AND TITLE PINK SLIP
