1985 GMC Sierra Classic 2500 3/4 Ton 4x4 – Factory Manual – 99K Actual Miles – Fully Restored – Show Quality

Up for sale from my personal collection is an absolutely beautiful 1985 GMC Sierra Classic 2500 3/4 Ton 4x4 with a rare factory manual transmission and only 99,000 100% actual original miles.

If you have been searching for a properly restored Square Body GMC 3/4-ton 4x4, this is one you need to take a serious look at. These trucks are becoming harder and harder to find every year, especially one with this combination of a Sierra Classic package, 3/4-ton chassis, 4-wheel drive, factory manual transmission, low actual miles, and the beautiful blue-and-white color combination.

This truck has had an extensive restoration inside and out with over $20,000 invested into the work. It was done to be a truck that looks outstanding but can still be driven and enjoyed. I am selling it from my own personal collection, and it is truly one of those trucks that is difficult to replace once it is gone.

RARE FACTORY MANUAL TRANSMISSION

One of my favorite things about this GMC is the factory manual transmission. You simply do not come across many Sierra Classic 2500 4x4 trucks like this anymore, especially restored examples with low actual mileage.

The manual transmission gives this truck that true old-school Square Body driving experience. Combined with the 350 V8, 3/4-ton chassis and 4x4, it is exactly the type of combination that makes these older GMC trucks so desirable today.

This isn’t a modern truck trying to imitate something from the past. This is the real thing.

ONLY 99,000 ACTUAL MILES

The truck currently has only 99K miles, and the mileage is 100% actual.

Finding a 1985 3/4-ton 4x4 is one thing. Finding one with a factory manual transmission is another. Finding one with only 99K actual miles that has also received this level of restoration is something completely different.

The truck still retains its original VIN/option information inside the glove box, along with the original owner’s manuals, which are great pieces to have with a collector-quality truck like this.

OVER $20,000 INVESTED

There has been over $20,000 worth of work put into this GMC, and it shows.

A lot of older Square Bodies on the market may photograph well from 20 feet away, but once you get close you begin seeing all of the things that still need attention. This truck has already had a tremendous amount of time and money invested into bringing it to the condition you see today.

It has been restored inside and out, and the goal was to keep the classic GMC appearance while improving the areas that make the truck more enjoyable to actually drive.

This is not a project truck that the next owner needs to immediately start dumping money into. The major work has already been done.

BEAUTIFUL BLUE & WHITE TWO-TONE

The blue and white color combination absolutely makes this truck.

It has received a brand-new, high-quality paint job, and the classic two-tone colors fit the body lines of this generation perfectly. Pictures give you a good idea of the condition, but this is one of those trucks that really needs to be seen in person to appreciate.

The truck also received new moldings, which really finish off the exterior and give it the clean, complete appearance that a properly restored Square Body should have.

Rather than going with oversized modern wheels, the truck retains the classic look with factory steel wheels and original-style hubcaps.

In my opinion, that is exactly how a truck like this should look.

BRAND-NEW BFGOODRICH KO3 TIRES

The truck is sitting on a brand-new set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires, sized 265/75R16.

These are 10-ply tires, giving the truck the proper heavy-duty look and feel for a 3/4-ton 4x4 while still keeping everything tasteful and period-correct in appearance.

The combination of the factory steel wheels, classic hubcaps and new BFG KO3s looks absolutely perfect on this GMC.

RESTORED INTERIOR

The inside of this Sierra Classic has also received extensive attention.

It has a new interior and presents extremely well. The goal was not to turn the interior into something overly modern that takes away from the character of the truck. Instead, the classic appearance was retained while making some tasteful upgrades for comfort and usability.

The cab has also been sound-proofed/sound-deadened to help reduce road and interior noise. Anyone who has spent time in an older Square Body knows how much of a difference this can make.

It gives you the classic truck experience without as much of the typical road noise you would expect from a 1985 3/4-ton 4x4.

ORIGINAL-STYLE BLUETOOTH RADIO

Another nice upgrade is the newer-style radio designed to replicate the appearance of the original unit while adding Bluetooth capability.

This gives you modern convenience without having a giant modern stereo sticking out of the dashboard and taking away from the vintage appearance of the interior.

It is a small detail, but it fits the overall theme of the truck perfectly: classic appearance with tasteful improvements where they make sense.

The truck also has newer gauges, helping keep everything clean, functional and easy to read.

350 V8 – FULLY TUNED & SERVICED

Under the hood is the classic 350 V8 engine.

The engine has been fully tuned up, and the truck has just been serviced so it is ready for its next owner.

It also has a new exhaust system, which gives the truck a nice, clean V8 sound without taking away from the classic nature of the vehicle.

Mechanically, this GMC runs and drives excellent.

I have a lot of experience with older trucks, and this one genuinely drives exceptionally well. I joke that it drives better than my new truck, but that gives you an idea of how impressed I am with the way this GMC feels going down the road.

The steering, drivetrain, manual transmission and overall road manners make this a truck you can actually enjoy instead of something that just sits in the garage.

DRIVE IT OR SHOW IT

One of the best things about this GMC is that it isn’t just something nice to look at.

You can actually drive it.

It has been serviced, tuned, detailed and gone through so the next owner can get in, turn the key and enjoy it.

Take it to a local cars-and-coffee.

Take it to a Square Body show.

Take it on a weekend cruise.

Put it in your collection.

Or simply drive it and enjoy owning a piece of classic GMC truck history.

I would have no problem getting into this truck and taking it on a road trip. It runs and drives that well.

A TRUE SQUARE BODY GMC

The 1973–1987 GM Square Body generation has developed a huge following, and trucks like this are a big reason why.

They have unmistakable styling, simple mechanicals and a driving experience that modern trucks simply cannot duplicate.

Good examples have become increasingly difficult to find because so many 3/4-ton trucks were originally purchased as work trucks and were used accordingly. Many have been modified, rusted, worked hard or simply disappeared over the last four decades.

That makes a restored 1985 GMC Sierra Classic 2500 4x4 with a factory manual transmission and only 99K actual miles something special.

Add in the blue-and-white two-tone, 350 V8, factory steel wheels, original-style hubcaps and extensive restoration, and you have an extremely attractive combination.

PERSONAL COLLECTION VEHICLE

This GMC is being sold from my personal collection.

I am very particular about the older trucks I own, and this is one I have enjoyed having around. A tremendous amount of money has already been spent getting it to this point.

There is over $20,000 invested in the restoration and work alone, not including the cost of the truck itself.

Anyone who has restored one of these correctly knows how quickly the cost adds up between paint, interior, trim, mechanical work, tires, exhaust and all of the little details.

The time, money and effort have already been put into this one.

Now it is ready for somebody else to enjoy.

CONDITION

This truck is show-quality and a must-see in person.

The exterior presents beautifully with its high-quality blue-and-white paint, new moldings, factory steel wheels and brand-new BFG tires.

The interior has been restored and upgraded while keeping the classic appearance.

Mechanically, the truck has been serviced and tuned and runs and drives great.

As with any vehicle that is over 40 years old, I always encourage serious buyers to look closely at all photos, ask questions and inspect the truck in person if possible. I try to describe my vehicles as accurately as possible so there are no surprises.
