1979 GMC P1500

1979 GMC P1500 Stepvan "Shorty". All aluminum body including roof and heavy duty rear bumper. Rear doors open 270 degrees and all doors have new Kason OEM door locks keyed alike. Very solid and damage free body panels but could use a paint job. There are no cut outs on the roof or sides. It does have an access for LPG filling on driver side midship. Engine is the 292 cid inline six mated to a HD 4-speed transmission, clutch is in good condition. .LPG system has been removed and needs rebuilt. Propane tank is still attached but needs replacement. My plans were to replace this system with a new carburetor which is included in the sale. Many other parts are included to refresh this engine. Another option I considered was to drop in a late model LS1 as the conversion is a simple one. I chose the 292 due to how clean the internals remained over the vans life. . The original gas tank is still there and I believe it to be unused.
The chassis is a GM heavy half ton and parts are readily available and easy to find. Suspension consists of coil springs and control arms, not a beam. Ride quality is rather good. The steering shaft and u-joints need replaced. My plans were to revamp the entire system and install power steering. Currently equipped with a manual gear.
Interior is simple with no previous modifications. Insulation panels were patterned but not installed yet. There is only one slider door on the passenger side. The driver side includes a roll up window but I was considering adding a slider. Most of these parts are readily available thru Mill Supply.
All parts that have been previously removed are included with the van. My plans were to make it into a daily driver / tool truck in the marine industry. Unfortunately, life happens and plans change. I hope someone can envision a new path for this very nice little stepvan. It surely deserves it. Thank you for looking!
