1987 GMC Sierra 1500 Additional Info:
My dad bought this truck new and I purchased it from him in 1998. I drove it occasionally for a couple of years and then it got relegated to "dump truck" duty. 3 or 4 times a year in most cases, we would take a load of whatever we were discarding to the dump which is probably less than 10 miles away. I have put very few miles on it in the 20 years I have had it. Mileage listed is approximate as we may still drive it around the property.
Below is some information about the truck that should help.
The Good:
Loaded with 350 (5.7l) Fuel Injection, AC, PS, PB, PW, Tilt, Cruise, Cloth Seats, Automatic Overdrive Transmission
Minor dents and dings here and there, but no major body damage.
Passenger inner fender replaced recently due to battery acid damage
Very Clean Body - No body rust that I can findRockers and cab corners look great - see pictures
Heater core and hoses replaced about a year ago.
Bedliner installed since new, bed in great condition.
The transmission was rebuilt before I took ownership, not sure of date or mileage
The Not So Good:
The truck was repainted by GM under warranty years ago due to the paint peeling. The roof and hood are faded and peeling again.
The interior has seen better days. Seat and headliner torn, dash pad cracked (nice cover currently on the dash). Interior door pulls broken, missing. I have a few of the parts to repair but never got around to it. These items will be included with purchase. Driver vent window pivot is broken. Both window motors need to be replaced. I have new motors and will include them. It runs well going down the road, but sometimes will stall when idling in gear. It will always start right back up. It smokes some as well. A deer ran out in front and broke the original grille. At the time, GMC grilles were hard to find and expensive, so an aftermarket Chevy was installed.
These square body trucks are going up in value, and rust free examples can be hard to find. This one is the perfect platform to modify or restore to original.
