1972 GMC 1500 SWB: In 1967 GM started producing the GMC and Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup trucks on the same assembly lines to reduce cost. The light duty GMC trucks were built in the Chevrolet plants, while the medium and heavy duty trucks continued to be produced at GMC Plants. This was, in effect, the end of GMC as a separate small truck division and afterwards there were basically no differences between the two trucks except interior and exterior trim.... The one big visual difference between 1967-1972 GMC and Chevrolet pickup trucks was the grill. GM must have decided they got the GMC grill right the first time because, unlike the 1967-1972 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup trucks, which radically changed grill design every 2 years, the GMC kept the same basic look of the grill for all 6 model years, with only subtle changes. Also, all 1967 through 1972 GMC models had dual headlights and parking lights mounted in the grill.Just as GMC got the grill right the first time, the builder of this amazing truck spent an unbelievable amount ($170k to be exact) getting this entire truck built right the first time. The words “right” or “best” get over-used in descriptions these days and in our opinion they aren’t strong adjectives unless validated by the masses. So, when this truck was asked to be on the cover and feature story for Classic Truck magazine last Feb, it moved a little closer to accurately claiming that “best” title. But when it was voted Best Overall GMC and the 2018 C10 Nationals, we think that sealed-the-deal on everyone’s appreciation for how truly amazing this truck really is. One of the coolest aspects of this build is that the owner started with a factory black-over-red short bed that originally rolled off the assembly line with a 400 cubic inch V8 and Air Conditioning. And what he started with was no rusty beater! The donor truck was acquired for almost $40k and if you know C10s at all, you know that’s the high end of the range for an original condition truck. But the intention was never to leave the truck original nor ordinary so the journey began to create an exceptional C10 that has and will continue to win every show it attends. To help you grasp exactly how much you are receiving for only half what it cost to build its twin, a complete list of all features and options includes; A new crate LS3 (525hp), 102mm TBI, 4L80E Automatic Transmission, 9? Rear End w/ Detroit Differential Tru-track, 3:90 Gears, Holley Dominator Fuel Injection, Power Steering & Brakes, Relocated Fuel Tank, AccuAir E- Level Air Ride, Dakota Digital Gauges, Parrot AM/FM/Bluetooth Stereo, Kenwood 10?
