Awesome, one of a kind resto mod. Complete & professionally built frame off restoration with power disc brakes, power steering, drop spindles, custom modern coil spring k member, 454 big block with Saginaw 4 speed, 3" stainless exhaust, detailed frame, custom relocated gas tank out of the cab and now in between the rails under the bed, heavy duty rear shocks & heavy duty 4" lowering rear springs, and custom wheels with new tires with widened rear fender wells.
The engine bay and interior dashboard has tastefully done hand painted pinstripe accents from a highly accomplished painter and pinstriper.
New interior is candy apple red over white, Dakota Digital Gauges with 0-60, quarter mile, speed and rev tattle tell, custom interchangeable Budweiser tap shifter, retro old school CD/MP3/iPod player (working, just not connected to center speaker), new model correct GMC steel cab floor pan with new black carpet.
The original body was sanded and 5 coats of clear coat were applied to preserve. This is not a faux patina paint job, it is exactly how it was found as purchased from original family owners off their peach farm. It is amazingly original and unique. Stunning. I purposely did not have any body work done as I wanted to preserve it exactly as it was because that is the look I was going for. There is some minor rust below the passenger door that was kept as-is and professionally treated to retard further deterioration to maintain the patina'd look of the build. There are also a couple of spots where bondo was applied many years ago which also was left intact as well because it did not detract from the overall appearance. The body is original and strong with straight panels and lines.
Rides, rumbles & handles nicely with plenty of smooth power - not monster power. Super comfortable. The truck has 2,300 miles since being newly rebuilt. It performs excellently on back-roads or on the highway. The one thing I would do is either swap out the radiator or add an electric fan to assist in cooling as the current set-up does begin to run hot when stuck in traffic or a series of extra long sets of lights. It has never overheated on me, but that easy adjustment would do the trick.
The sound the new 3 inch stainless exhaust produces is loud and awesome, it burbles and rumbles at idle and blasts when shifting through the gears. I drive it locally and on the highway easily at speeds that would get you in trouble, but really just love taking is slow and riding it to the local car shows where this truck is a guaranteed huge hit. Seriously, this truck get so much attention whether parked, filling it up, or riding down the road.
