1979 GMC Sierra 2500 ROYAL Sierra, 1 of 500 built! Additional Info:
1979 GMC ROYAL SIERRA 25 Camper Special
1 of 500 built, there are probably less than 200 left! GMC's version of the Bonanza. Year End promotional deal. This one is a Z62 "Sierra Grande Equiment" with YG7 "Royal Sierra Package" which basically flipped the options catalog open and added to the Z62 package. This is 2wd 3/4 ton with the original 350 / TH400 combo. 65 Light Camel / 60 Neutral two tone. Photo of build sheet attached.
Montana Truck (I'm the 3rd owner) Original enough to restore. The 350 is tired, runs around town fine but pretty loose and doggy. Needs rebuilt but it's all there. Showing 62186 clicks on the odometer. I'd say its 162,000. Tranny shifts fine but needs a pan gasket. Brakes are soft and power steering pump leaks. Bring a trailer.
Body appears to be all original panels and paint. Original owner ran it onto the barn and dented the hood and knocked the passenger fender out of alignment. Second owner was a contractor and got paint all over the bed. Floor boards are rusty from muddy/snowy boots on carpet. And the passenger side has the normal rust behind the wheel well. Cab corners and fenders seem good. Inner fenders at the mount are rusted. It's a project truck, but one worth doing!
Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
