1955 GMC ½ Ton late first series 5 window
You are viewing a super nice unrestored survivor. The truck has been in the same family for 48 years with a repaint, bed boards replaced and new seat cover. Sold new in Enumclaw, WA and have the original dealer receipt. Second owner. The truck is in remarkable condition for its age and runs and drives excellent. 89K original miles. The truck was purchased as a gentlemen farmer’s truck and was never used as a typical farm truck, which reflects in its condition. The truck was in storage for a number of years and has recently been gone through regarding checking all the vitals, fluids, tune up, brakes etc. A rare truck with some special features. Everything works.
Please read on for more particulars of the car:
Body/Paint: The body is all original GMC steel that is rust free other than a few very small areas of surface rust. The truck was painted in 1988 in its original two tone green. The paint is very presentable showing a few signs of patina.
Interior: The interior is original except the seat cover was replaced when the truck was painted. Carpet was also added with the truck originally having a full rubber mat from the factory. The mat was deteriorated and was removed and replaced with carpet.
Running Gear: Engine, trans and rear end is all original to the truck. The engine’s head was rebuilt in 92 with on 1K miles driven on the truck since. 248 ci six. It runs excellent. The transmission is rare in a 5 window GMC and is a 4 speed Hydramatic, which is rare in these first series. Most were purchased as work trucks with manual transmissions. Works and shifts as it should. The rear end is all original and is in good working order.
Suspension: Stock
Bright work: All original in very good condition for its age showing some signs of patina.
Glass: Original to the truck. New weather stripping was installed when the glass was taken out for paint.
Exhaust: Replaced back in 92 in good working order.
Brakes: Recently checked out and in good working order.
Wheels/Tires: Wheels and caps are original along with the spare tire. The tires are older stock size bias.
Summary: This represents an excellent example of this first series body style that many collectors like particularly since it is a 5 window as well, but when taking into consideration the Hydramatic 4 speed transmission makes this truck a rare find. It is in very drivable condition and should be enjoyed just the way it sits. I have over 80 pictures of the truck so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures. Great value for the money. Don’t let this truck slip away.
