1976 GMC Jimmy Additional Info:
This is one of the rare GMC Casa Grande conversions. Very few made. Same as the Chevrolet Chalet. This one is in pretty good shape, only a few rust spots. Runs great, shifts great and 4wd works as it should. The camper portion is in good shape. It has some areas that could use some attention. But I believe its ready to hit the road and camp. The canvas overall is good, few small spots that need patch. It needs reattached in one small area on pass corner. I believe they just staple on. The fabric on the ceiling is little loose, its not too bad. The interior is mostly original, Has some newer carpet layed over the original. The cots above fold out and work very well! They are in great shape. I have not turned everything on since I have owned it, but when I bought it, the seller did and checked everything out. I am not an RV mechanic, nor a regular mechanic, I cannot guarantee that everything works and does not have leaks. However from what I can tell it its in opperating order.
The door on the back has been replaced with wood. I would just get a fiberglass sheet like original and lay it over. The fiberglass is in good shape, few spots up front over cab, look like rock nicks. I have not seen any cracks. The top panel could use some trim replaced around edges, pretty simple fix if you want to. Glass is all in good shape around the camper. The decals are faded and not in great shape, as they are shown in picture is how they appear in person.
The truck has a new hood, the paintjob to match is not the best. I actually did not notice it til a few days after owning it. But it is a new hood and in good shape. The grill was swapped out to a Chevy grill as the GMC grill had a few cracks, PO swapped that out. As you can see it has the original spare tire holder up front. The body of the truck is in pretty good shape, trim on driver fender is little bent. and bottom of door at corner tip has little bend. Rockers seem to be in great shape.
The interior of the cab is in good shape, shows normal wear but nothing out of the ordinary. The truck does have AC, it works this summer, but compressor does not kick on now, could need a charge.
Mechanically its great, it has a small exhaust leak at the junction between header and downtube. not too bad. Suspension seems solid and tight, same goes for the steering. The tires will need to be replaced sooner than later, they are 33" tall on the original rally style wheels. Locking hubs up front.
