1994 Geo Metro XFI Additional Info:
Selling a 100% original XFI geo metro,it has 174K miles, the best thing about the car is its 100% stock, original motor and 5 spd 3.79 ratio transmission, original spare, manuals, maintenance receipts, great tires,80% tread, drives nice and straight,no shimmys vibrations or pulling,The 5 speed transmission is PERFECT,no syncro issues, shifts perfectly,i double checked and counted the teeth its a 72 tooth transmission, which is 3.79 ratio, just about the best for gas mileage,I cleaned the TBI and fuel system, put fresh gas in it and it started right up and ran like a champ, ive owned 3 XFIs for personal use and this one runs the best, very good running, smooth idle,I pulled the spark plugs, and was amazed,ONCE AGAIN, I find a 100K+ miles geo with the original factory installed plugs, wires etc. WHAT I wasNOT expecting to see was the amazing color of the plugs, they were as good as any you would want, golden colored, and I know the were the original plugs by the extensive wear on the electrodes andtips, not to mention like a .060 - .070or bigger end gap,ive ran across a number of cases where ive pulled the original NGKs out,So I had a used set of goodplugs on the shelf, I swapped them out with new heavier plug wires and a new cap and rotor,This car runs as smooth and strong as day one,ive owned over 30 metros all 5speeds,this is one ofthe very smoothest, nicest, strongest motors ive had,i wasvery surprised,i bought this car just for the transmission and a motor, once Ifigured outthe issues,i decided to not take the running gear,i was going to rebuild this stuff and put it in a metro vert I have, but it doesn't need it,this engine doesn't smoke, has ZEROblow by,I drove it around the neighborhood for days before I put an old trip permit I found on it,I filled it up and went on the first real road MPG TEST today 5/14 I took it on one of my favorite metro mpg test areas, the Willamette valley Oregon,I-5 is nice and flat for a nice long stretch, today at 68 degrees, overcast, tires at 40 psi, shifting when the dash shift light comes on and keeping it at 55mph,I went 305.3 miles and used 5.3 gallons of gas,it works out to 57 mpg at 55 mph,,since then i drove it to work for a week, burnt another tank of fuel through it,then this past sunday I went on a 500 mile round trip for a new hood for the car,on the way to seattle I got 58.2 miles to the gallon going a constant 60 MPH,on the way home I slowed it down to 55 MPH and I was able to get 60.3 miles to the gallon, the.Interior is in really good condition, the only thing wrong with the whole interior is atear on drivers seat seam, windows roll up and down fine, all the glass including the windshield is perfect no chips or cracks, perfect headliner, the car is extremely rust free,it has a spot of surface rust on the hood, has a couple lightdings on the doors, front and rear are clean solid and rust free, also the rear quarters and fender solid, zero rust, the entire floor pan and frame are also rust free, not even surface rust factory paint still,in my state they don't use salt in winter, they use gravel,so instead of rust,we end up replacing windshields a lot,i included a pic of the frame, thats are geos here, the whole underbodys still have factory paint or undercoating on them, our rigs just don't rust out here,Geo heads looking for a excellent XFI this is it,Ive found the original service records for the car up to over 100, frequent oil changes many before 3,000 miles.Im not sure if the timing belt has been changed,i will check it out later,Again, this is a super nice running highly efficient XFI motor, the only thing not stock are the heavier plug wires I put on it.I knew this was a rocking little motor when I got it running and put fresh gas in it,i drove it around my neighborhood and back roads for a couple hours before the gas gauge even dropped below full
