Up for auction is a barn find 1965 Ford Mustang fastback which originally left the factory with a 200hp 289 V8. We don’t know much about the car’s history, but it’s obvious that someone has put a lot of work into it, including front floor pan replacement.
The original quarter panels, roof and passenger’s door are in amazing condition with no dents or body filler. The rear glass is outstanding as well, with only some very minor scratches. The Mustang’s only rust consists of a small spot at the bottom of the left quarter & bottom of driver’s door (see photos).
There’s no engine or transmission in the car, but it does come with the optional styled steel wheels, fold down rear seat, front & rear sway bars, plus a lot of miscellaneous parts (see photos). Some new steering components have also been installed. However, nothing is connected to the steering box. The title was lost long ago, so please be aware that the Mustang will be sold with a bill of sale only.
1965 was the first year for the fastback Mustang, so most car guys will recognize that this car would be well worth the effort to restore. It’s our hope that someone will put some love into this classic…and make a show piece out of it.
