1989 Ford Thunderbird coupe Additional Info:
This car was bought new in 1989 in California and eventually ended up in Florida. This car was bought in Florida by a gentleman from Michigan in 2013 for his daughter who was going to school in South Florida. He titled it in his name in Michigan but the car never left Florida. Although Thunderbirds have been around for years, Ford made this body style in 1985 through 1997. In 1989 and 1990 Ford changed a few things on the Thunderbird and Cougars. There are parts on the 1989 and 1990 Thunderbird and Cougar that will not fit on the 1985-1988 and 1991-1997 Thunderbird and Cougar and vise virsa. I have for sale this 1989 Ford Thunderbird coupe with a 3.8 engine with a 4 speed auto with O.D. and independent rear suspention.has AC with an aftermarket am/fm cd player. I bought this car for a project and have roughly $3500. in parts and some labor. Most of the parts I installed myself but I did have some paid out labor. When I bought the car I knew that it had a blown head gasket, but when my mechanic tore it down he found the the water port in the aluminum heads were eaten out by running straight water instead of antifreeze. I bought 2 completely restored heads and had them installed. The total cost for this job was $850. The car was running good except that it had a bad miss at about 50 so I put all new injectors in along with almost all new sensors on the engine. Also a new egr valve and tube. When I bought the car, the previous owner had installed a new radiator, water pump, and hoses. For some reason his mechanic did not put the radiator fan shroud back on so I found a brand new, old stock Ford Thunderbird shroud that was in the box which I paid $213 for. I also installed a new rack and pinion, with new outer tie rods, upper and lower control arms with ball joints, strut rod bushings, new hubs with new wheel bearings, new calipers rotors, brakes on the right and left sides. Also installed 2 new oxygen sensors, new power brake booster, front and rear ujoints and new power steering pump. This car has independent rear suspention and I installed 2 new rear cv axles. Change the fluid in the transmission and installed a new filter. Also it has 4 new tires with less than 2000 miles. The engine does not smoke or use oil and the trasmission shifts perfect. The interior needs work done, such as the dash (it is cracked in several places) and the consol lid is missing. The exterior does not look to bad but does need work.
If you are interested in buying this car, I highly recommend that you personally or have an inspection done before you purchase it. This car, although it runs good, is being sold as a project car. This car is not perfect so please don't assume it is.
I wanted to restore this car back to as close to new as I could but situations have changed and I am not going to be able to finish it.
I do have insurance and plates on this car as I do drive it. This car, engine, and transmission has 183000 plus miles on it. The title states exempt miles because the car is over 25 years old. The odometer works and shows the correct miles.
