For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1951 Ford Deluxe convertible. The majority of Fords and Mercurys from this era have been customized anywhere from mild to wild. This 1951 isn't mild or wild, it's just right. The paint scheme is without questions custom, but very tastefully done with a Deep Toreador Red and Pink scallops. The soft top is a high quality Mercedes fabric that matches the Deep Toreador Red paint. Some of the custom touches include blue dot tail lights, custom grille with Corvette teeth, wide white wall tires with 1957 Cadillac hubcaps, custom Lake Pipes with three outlets, dummy spotlights for both sides, custom bubble skirts for the rear wheels and a new roll and pleat wine red and white interior. Inside you'll find a new IDIDIT tilt steering column, B&M Quick Silver shifter, custom built steering wheel, a beautiful custom built center console housing the shifter and power window controls and climate controls for the Vintage Air.
Pop the hood and you'll notice the beautiful Dark Toreador Red paint that continues into the engine bay for a finished and clean appearance. Power comes from a 351 Windsor V8 mated to a stout C6 automatic transmission back to a Chevy 10 Bolt rear-end. Slowing things down is no problem thanks to power front disc brakes and drums out back. A Volvo 194 steering box makes maneuvering this one an ease. Equipment consist of power windows, power steering, power brakes, power top, power trunk release, Kenwood CD player with remote hidden in the glove box, continental kit, tilt steering column and air conditioning.
