1994 Ford Taurus SHO Additional Info:
Up for auction - 1994 Ford Taurus SHO 232,200 miles
I think the car needs complete restoration, but it is driveable and PA inspected through 8/17. A/C blows cold and gauges were replaced with white faced ones. Below I have provided an honest appraisal of the car. Title is clear and in hand. Mileage may increase slightly over the next week.
Work I’ve had done in past year
Items replaced - Exide Extreme battery, timing belt, timing belt idler pulley, plugs, wires, and valve cover gaskets.
Exhaust from cat-back has been replaced. Old tailpipes reused. Cat has external rust but internals should be fine due to fantastic emissions test readings. Flange that mounts cat to flex pipe was rotted, so a flange repair kit was installed. It will probably need a cat at some point. Magnaflow is currently developing a performance cat, part #23216.
Vehicle was in front end collision. Bumper has impact that could be covered by a license plate. I replaced the reinforcement, header panel, left side marker, and left fender. Passenger mirror was replaced as well.
I had a custom stainless steel rocker molding bracket made to replace the prior rusted one.
I removed a custom cold air intake I put together for the car because I thought that's what tripped the check engine light. Once removed, light still goes on and off. Please see below for codes that were pulled by shop.
Extras
Owner’s manual, few sets of keys, factory service manual, electrical & vacuum manual, maintenance book with notes from previous owner as well as folder full of invoices from previous owner and myself.
Kept old parts as some were hard to come by and might be useful to the new owner.
Items from inspection report – It passed both PA state and emissions tests, but shop noted a few items. I’ve included key highlights from their report.
Tires-7/32 fronts, 4/32 rears.
All brake pads were replaced before I bought vehicle, so all pads are 12/32 or above.
Both rear parking brake cables were replaced, but shop states calipers are sticking. Will probably need them replaced at some point.
LED third brake light is very dim, so will probably need replacement.
Shop pulled check engine codes:1. Inlet air control circuit fault2. O2 lean bank fault
Issues
Dents, scratches, and chips throughout vehicle.
Wear over entire interior.
Check engine light comes on then goes off & air bag light blinks during recent short trips I’ve taken with the car. Air bag light might just need a reset, I'm not sure.
Left side of radiator support was repaired but repair has cracked from the short trips around town.
Engine has a few oil leaks.
Left rear part of rocker is rotted, section is approximately 12” x 6”, but rocker molding covers the majority of it.
Heater core was bypassed and previous owner said that blend door actuator needs replacement. Heat will not work in current setup.
Left rear window does not go down.
Antenna works intermittently during my short drives.
Disclaimer: I’m not a mechanic. I have provided an honest and detailed description of the car’s current condition including what I have done to the car to get it driveable, inspected, and the issues I know about the car. I’m positive there will be future issues that need to be fixed unless it’s restored. It is a 22 year old vehicle. My opinion is that it is still a project car and needs complete restoration. Due to the age, condition, and mileage, I’m selling the vehicle AS IS with no returns, refunds, exchanges, etc.
I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is posted locally for sale. Winning bidder must pay in cash within 3 days of auction close. I will not accept any other form of payment. If winning bidder does not buy car, person will be reported to ebay as I have described the vehicle accurately. I will not ship or deliver vehicle. Vehicle can be picked up within a few miles of Lansdale, PA at a location of my choice. I will not release vehicle until payment is received in full. I will not negotiate these terms.
