1956 Ford Thunderbird Additional Info:
Unrestored driver.312 automatic, power steering, A/Cwith both tops in goodrunning condition. Drives smoothand all gauges, lights, horn and radio, excepttach and clock work. The mechanicaltach is disconnected at the distributor, as it was noisy. The clock worked whenI disconnected it.The convertible top is white with the original stainless header, I believe it is the original factory soft top upholstery. The top mechanism and swing bar work as they should, but the soft top fabric shredded when I put it up. I purchased this from Amos Minter as a driver in 1986. He shipped it free to Santa Fe Springs, Ca. I flew down and drove it home, an800 mile trip. I had the interior, dash, and hardtopcompletely restored in 1987, but it needs refreshing since that was 30 years ago. The speedometer was rebuilt and set to zero when the dash was completely restored. It has newer tires and a fresh brake job. The paint is still the way it was when I bought it. The car looks to have been painted 3 times before I purchased it &the last paint job in the 60's or 70's was an Earl Schieb affair and is brighter white than the original white. There is checking and paint shrink stars present on the car. There is very little sign of rust on this car and thathas not changed sinceI purchased it in 1986.White paint that is over 40 years old does not lie on rust issues. The hardtop rear glass is included and is complete and theoriginal color. It started to come off the top when I went to store the top upside down, I removed it completely since I only drove the car with the top removed. The car is complete anddrivable. Please look closely over thephotos. This is a great candidate for complete restoratuion or a repaint and interior freshen up job to remain a driver.Since I bought it I have done the following: Rebuilt automatic transmission, rebuilt front suspension, Ford style alternator conversion, changed to modern A/C compressor 134A, 4 Row radiator & electric fans, upgraded to1957 style intake manifold, carburetor and air cleaner. It was orininally sold in Oaklahoma City & later migrated to Amos Minter in Dallas. I will store up to 30 days at no charge, after that, the storage will be $15 a day. You must pick up or arrange shipping. I am located 90 miles west of Grants Pass Oregon on I-5 by way of highway 197 or 25 miles above Crescent City, CA by highway 101. $1,000 down by PayPal, Balance by Bank Cashers Check or Electric transfer to my bank account or you could pay it to my Paypal account within 7 days. If you live close, I would accept cash as well for the balance within 7 days of the auction close.. I will post more close-up photos of the interior andtrunk when I get a sunny day, likely before the auction starts or shortly thereafter. Both original tops alone are at least worth $5,000. I am a private individual and the car is located in Brookings, OR. The reserve is REASONABLE. The ORIGINAL 1956 California license plates will be removed to place on another 1956car, but if you are a California bidder you can keep them for $250 additional.
