1990 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe Additional Info:
This is the Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe with the Supercharged V6 3.8L. These are becoming rare cars. This one looks great and is original. I drive this car almost daily and it is very reliable.
The good:
1. Runs great
2. Automatic seatbelts work as they should
3. Anti-lock brakes work as they should
4. A/C works
5. All powerseat functions work for both seats at they should
6. New cooper ultra tires
7. New motegi wheels
8. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL SC WHEELS THAT GO WITH THE CAR
9. Parking brake works as it should and dash light works
10. Supercharger is boosting as it should
11. Upgraded air intake
12. New Idle air control valve
13. New TPS for throttle
14. New MAF sensor
15. Transmission shifts great and was replaced two years ago
16. Ride control works as it should (firm and soft settings)
17. Sunroof works great as it should (it is automatic)
18. Been running Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic for many miles now.
Known Issues
1. leaks oil from oil filter housing gasket
2. Seats are original but have rips and tears as do most super coupes
3. Cruise control does not work (not sure why)
4. Transmission was replaced and speed sensor reads about 5 mph high. Has been doing this for years. Needs new speed sensor gear with the correct code (about $20)
5. Transmission seal is wet but I cannot see a leak or where it is coming from. Nothing showing up on the dipstick.
This car has the original paint and it still looks great. I cannot find any evidence that this car was ever in any type of accident.
Expect some minor dings on the car and some paint scratches etc.. This car has never been repainted etc. so again it is an old car.
Typical interior issues with a car of this age so expect that as well. Very minor stuff but some of the panels are loose from age.
I drive this car on sunny days and back and forth to work. Very reliable. I do have a primary driver but this car is fun to drive.
Rare care that can be restored or driven as is.
What to expect - an old car with issues that still runs and drives. Yes, it leaks oil and yes I get the occasional check gauge light which seems to only happen when you run the gas low and takes awhile to reset. The service engine soon light does NOT come only the check gauge. The service engine soon light is working just not throwing any codes.
The driver information center works perfectly including the change oil indicator.
***** IN RESPONSE TO SOME QUESTIONS:
The transmission shifts great and has always read full on the dipstick. There is no evidence of a leak on the dipstick as it always reads full and shows no signs of wear or burning smell etc.. Shifts fine.
