1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Black with Black/Gray interior
This is my dream car and if you like Turbo Fords, you will love it too.
Interior:
The seats have been redone to original factory condition black with gray cloth. The arm rest is in excellent condition. The seat/window switch panel is New Old Stock and in perfect condition. 1986 Ford Mustang SVO Hurst shift boot in great condition. 2003 Cobra Mustang leather shift knob, new. Digital automatic climate control works. Though I have not charged the AC at this point. New Sony CD/MP3 player. Very nice model with blue tooth. It will download your address book and you can voice dial to make phone calls through it. Has a host of colors. I have it set to "Forrest" so it alternates between various shades of green to match the car's instrument color. Also has a setting for Pandora and anything else you want to play. The dash has a few thin cracks that I repaired but of course you can tell where they were. A simple dash mat would cover it if that bothers you. Interior is a 9 out of 10 only because of the dash. Other than that it is very nice interior for a 1988 Turbo Coupe. I spent an embarrassing amount of money on it. There is always a few areas that could use more… Needs a new sunshade for the sunroof but I leave it back so it never really bothers me… Headliner in good condition and everything works for the interior lights, sunroof, electric radio antenna, windows, locks, climate control, electric seats, …..etc… everything…..
Exterior:
The paint is ok…. The car has the original paint that is almost 30yrs old.. There a few small places that you can see primer but no rust… few dings that can easily be fixed and I have a lot of new/old trim pieces that I was going to put on just waiting until I got a paint job… but will now hold off and the pieces will go with the car….
Drive Train:
3:73 rear end connected to 10" rear disc brakes (ABS and yes it works fine). 1986 Mustang SVO T5 manual transmission for the best possible gearing. All new seals and bearings. SPEC stage 3 clutch and flywheel just installed last month. High dollar! Will hold over 300hp.Orginal Factory Hurst shifter that came with the SVO tranny. New tranny mount and cross-member bushings. Unbreakable "dog bone" and new clutch cable.
The motor has about 127K on her and runs like a top. I do not race this car. I run Mobile One Full Synthetic oil and filter and have a 5 Gallon bottle and filter in the trunk for the next change. Oil in the motor is still fresh and clean. Gillis manual boost valve installed and set on 15lbs of boost but will do more. Just turn the valve screw for more. Cone filter. Valve cover is original and never been off. The gasket does leak a little oil but I have another valve cover and gasket in the trunk. Valve cover is the Ford Fuel Injected Turbo one from an SVO Mustang. I am currently running the factory intercooler. However, I have all the parts needed to run a Buick Grand National Intercooler. In fact, I have mounted that intercooler with custom brackets. The piping, 4 ply silicon couplers and T-Clamps are in the trunk. Also in the trunk are TWO new Blow off valves. A single piston BOV and a Dual Piston BOV from Stinger performance new. Would take just a few minutes to install. Also have the factory GN intercooler shroud to go on the intercooler and to scoop up cooler air from underneath the car. It's all in the trunk. I installed a 16" slim fan to make the transition possible but the factory fans and shroud are in the trunk.
This trunk is like Christmas. I also have a collection of performance upgrade parts:
Ported upper and lower intakes from an SVO Mustang, Large 1995 Mustang Throttle body drilled to fit the upper intake with a harness to make it plug and play. Ranger roller cam and followers are in there as well as a 255lpm Fuel pump, Mallory Fuel Pressure Regulator, New Turbo Blanket (nice one Made in USA) New light switches, Green Giant 42lb injectors.... as well as some other things I am forgetting.
The trunk is holding over $1000 worth of performance upgrades and it all comes with the car. That is why I call it the Christmas trunk.
Recently installed Stinger Performance 3" into dual 2.5" exhaust with Stainless Steel Maganaflow mufflers which sound incredible. (paid around $700.00)
