Up for auction is a 1963 Ford Thunderbird “M” Code tribute. This car is a true 390 4bbl car that was upgraded to the “M’ code 390 Tri Power set up. This car was recently shipped from California to Florida and will be sold on a Utah title. The guy I bought it from never titled or registered it;he claims he bought the car from the original owner who was 91 years old. This car was repainted the factory code “K” light turquoise. The repaint is older and looks better in photos than in person, like always. The body has had some work in the past that is visible but impossible to photograph. VERY light surface rust on the bottoms of the doors which can only be seen when looking under the doors. The doors shut very well and easy, they close like a post car. The car is not a concourse show car rather a good driver that was restored in 1999.
This car is loaded with options: power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning (previous owner said he just charged it but its currently not blowing cold), power seat (not functioning), wire spoked wheels, sport roadster tonneau cover, swing away steering wheel, power windows (work well), AM/FM radio (not currently working) and the added 3X2 bbl intake/carburetor set up.
The stainless steel and interior trim is excellent. Windshield trim/header panel are excellent. The bumpers do shine but as you can see here is damage to both rear bumper “Q’s” which I have photographed, they are not brand new but look good. The steering wheel is original and does have a crack. The swing away mechanism works as it should and will only go into gear when in the driving position. The aluminum dash insert is in good shape and does have some light scratches. The instrument gauge chrome is in good shape and not pitted like most. The upholstery is in excellent condition and the rear seat is just as nice as the front.
The engine runs very well and has excellent power. It was also rebuilt during its major overhaul in 1999 and was claimed to be a stock internal rebuild. The power steering whines a little when the fluid is cold but seems to quiet down after use. The three speed automatic transmission shifts smooth. The undercarriage is very clean, rust free and original in appearance. The bottom of the passenger fender has a little dent/damage which I have photographed. The trunk lid has a paint blemish that wouldnt show up in photos but its about 12" in diameter. The top operates well and does so on 4 switches which are mounted in the center console. Everything performs as it should. The top is older but shows well. The trunk weatherstrip needs to be replaced and I do have it just haven't had time to install it.
I have done my best describing this car and took every photo I thought you would want to see, please review them there are 100 posted.Thank you and good luck
