For sale is a1965 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door Convertible. This is not a show car, it has had some work and still needs a bit more, but all and all it is a very presentable car. This 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible is for all of those who like to standout in a tasteful and vintage way. It is a true classic on the outside spacious on the inside and packs a nice V8. The Ford Galaxie cars are really starting to come into their own on the classic car market. These cars were truly the full-sized Fords that followed the idea of 'lower wider longer' as far as it coul, even placing the headlights and taillights as far in the corners of the body as possible. This allowed for some seriously large chrome elements such as the wire wheel covers, the bumpers and the grille that almost looks billet-style straight from the factory. The result was a design that was uniquely Ford and uniquely the 1960s. Inside features a correct blue interio, that looks decen, but still has lots of work to be put in and holds lots of potential.
As expected from the Galaxie line this is a big comfortable cruiser where everyone has plenty of room to spread out. While the interior color draws nice attention when the weather turns wet there is a white vinyl power folding roof to keep you dry. Pop the hood and you'll see that emblems on the fenders were not lying. This car has a correct 352 cubic-inch V8. It has a four-barrel carburetor and quite nice sounding dual exhaust. But really this is the kind of car you can restore at your own pace, it can be left as is or give it a head turning look with some work done, up to you. It's a power steering car with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. You're looking at a convertible that doesn't use a large stereo or exotic paint to be an attention getter. It's just got many unique pieces wrapped in a strong and vintage drop top and with some work this Galaxie can be a show quality car.
The 1965 Galaxie was an all-new design, featuring vertically stacked dual headlights. The cars were taller and bulkier than the previous year's. The new top-of-the-line designation was the Galaxie 500 LTD. Engine choices were the same as 1964, except for an all-new 240 cu in (3.9 L) six-cylinder engine replacing the 1950s-era 223 "Mileage-Maker" six and the 352 was now equipped with dual exhausts and a four-barrel carburetor.
Suspension on the 1965 models was redesigned. Replacing the former leaf-spring rear suspension was a new three-link system, with coil springs. Interiors featured a new instrument panel and two-way key system were introduced. The introduction of two keys was for valet parking, in that the rounded head key would only open the trunk or locked glove compartment, while the squared head key would unlock the doors and the ignition.
The dash needs some restoration. It appears that whoever painted the car installed a new dash pad and it doesn't fit real well. It could also use a really good detailing.
We would like to thank the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight for their unique location used at many of our photo shoots.Be sure to visit this historical museum if you find yourself in the Dallas, Texas area. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' showroom is located only minutes away.
Sections of the floor pans were replaced. All in all it looks pretty solid.
