Up for sale is this beautiful 1966 Mustang Convertible with a removable fastback roof. Yes the trunk does open with the hard top installed. A fastback trunk was installed to accommodate the roof. I will miss many great things in the description but I will do my best to show the highlights. The body and undercarriage were sandblasted to bare metal, after that the floorboards, a few other panels were replaced and subframe connectors were welded in place. The entire car was then coated in Epoxy primer before any body work was started. You will notice from the pictures that the underbody is immaculate, there are no exposed lines or electrical connections under the car except for what is absolutely necessary. The fuel and brake lines were ran through the driver side rocker panels and the electrical was ran through the passenger side. In an effort to keep this build as clean as possible we added in an “E-STOPP” electronic emergency/parking brake. The power steering is EPAS (Electronic Power Assisted Steering). Literally everything is brand new aside from the original body, some of the other upgrades are Dakota digital gauges a Custom Audiosound 740 bluetooth stereo hooked up to a 1200 watt 7 speaker system, with two 10” subwoofers tucked away in custom boxes behind the wheel wells. If that isn’t loud enough for you then you should try opening up the electronic exhaust cutouts just behind the headman ceramic coated headers. With a click of a button the the car turns from a fairly rowdy thumper cam to Magnaflow exhaust sound into an open header thunder storm. It feels like your at a a drag race track with the cut outs open. We did want this to be a driver so we did add in a bunch of insulation. The firewall was insulated with a layer of aluminum sound deadener then 3/4 fire resistant insulated Matt and then another layer of sound deadener. That is all covered up with all brand new interior including TMI seats and matching console. It also has a brand new Vintage Air Heating and Air Conditioning system and a hydraulic powered soft top roof.
Other structural upgrades are a Rod & Custom rear suspension with QA1 adjustable coil overs with anti sway bar and Mustang II front suspension with 2’ drop spindles. This work was done to accommodate the 408 (505 HP) cubic inch engine No expense spared in the engine with a professionally built Scat rotating assembly, AFR-1351 aluminum heads, Performer Air Gap 35 intake, Trick Flow roller rockers, Comp Cams Thumper Camshaft, Comp Cams hydraulic roller lifters, CVF pulley system, Cloyes dual sprocket timing set 100% ARP bolts. All this is fed by a complete Holley Sniper 2 EFI fuel ignition assembly. It has been professionally tuned and tested. This all feeds power to the and Tremec TKX 5 speed manual transmission with a ford racing flywheel/Kevlar clutch and hydraulic throw out. From there we have a 3 inch aluminum drive shaft going to the bulletproof Ford 8.8 3.73 Traction Lock rear differential. Stopping power is provided through Wildwood 4 piston Disc Brakes. It does not have power brakes but it really isn’t needed at all in a car this light with that much braking surface. The removable hardtop roof is produced by a company called removablefastbacks. I have plenty of videos.
