Approximately 4900 GT Mustangs were made, most of which were powered by the 351W engine. This car must have been ordered as the base for a street sleeper as it was ordered with drum brakes and manual steering. A 4-Speed was added along with a Vertical Gate shifter. For the most part it is still quite original with some paint work done but what appears to be all original floors, quarters, doors and the driver's side fender. The passenger side fender & hood were replaced. Rumor has it that the car had been in a light accident and parked in the early 80's.Inside the interior is mostly original with the exception of the high back seats. This was a popular upgrade in the 70's and 80's. The carpet had been changed out with a reproduction kit. The door panels, dash and rear seat upholstery appear to be the born-with originals. The 'Sport Deck' or Fold Down Seat still works nicely and is a hugely popular option. This would be an easy interior to live with. While not perfect it does present well with the original look the car has.The 390 runs excellent, sounds great and performs well. It has a host of day 2 upgraded like an aluminum intake manifold, Holley carburetor, long-tube headers and a high volume fuel pump. We had to wake this one up from a long slumber. We cleaned the fuel system and replaced the fuel sender and filter. Next we pre-oiled the engine, but going through the valvetrain we noticed an issue so the whole system was replaced with a hydraulic roller camshaft, roller lifters, matching springs/locks/retainers and roller rocker arms. The engine runs well and has good power. This was originally an automatic car that was converted to a Toploader 4 Speed. It has a rare & coveted V-Gate shifter which was quite popular in the 60's & 70's street racing scene.Rust wise this car is quite good. It has original floors in nice condition. With some scrubbing I'm sure they would look quite impressive. There is some very minor bubbles in the door corners under the original paint. The lower quarters are still original and look good. You would be hard pressed to find a more original metal car in this un-restored condition. For transport we recommend Mike's Discount Auto Transport.
