The '40 Ford owned by Jack Freyder underwent a complete ground-up rebuild with thehelp of his friends Jack McKinney, Phil Goschl, and Jon Peters. The project took sixyears to complete due to Jack's perfectionistic personality and which resulted in hisdesire for the car to be perfect.During the rebuild, the car was completely disassembled and a basic plan wasestablished. However, as Jack's perfectionism kicked in, the plan was adjusted multipletimes to incorporate better ideas. At times, parts that were already assembled had to bedisassembled again to implement improvements.Throughout the process, more than 85 individual parts, as well as the entire frame, werepowder coated. The body of the car is made of steel and features a 1948 gas filler door.The cowl vent was filled, and the windshield was V-butted for a cleaner look.The drivetrain of the car utilizes a Mustang II front end and parallel leaf rear springs.The braking system consists of power disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in therear. The steering system is equipped with a power rack & pinion setup attached to aGM tilt column.Under the hood, the car is powered by a completely rebuilt 1977 350 Chevy enginepaired with a Turbo 350 transmission. The rear end is an 8' Ford. The fuel systemincludes a custom 25-gallon stainless steel tank and other custom stainless-steelcomponents, such as a fan shroud.The car was meticulously painted in Frost Beige, which covers the interior, exterior, andunderside. The upholstery work was done by Mike Ambrose using taupe-colored leatherand tweed materials. The headliner and carpet are made of dark brown wool.Overall, this '40 Ford is considered a perfect example of a hot rod, and the trueappreciation of its quality can only be gained by seeing and driving it firsthand.
