Previous winner of the auction backed out claiming they "bid for fun" - Don't be that guy. Please only make offer if you are a serious buyer. The last person told me they wanted to purchase it and then backed out because they didn't want to pay shipping.
1966 F250 4x4 Fire Truck/Bush Rescue Truck
I purchased this truck from Tennessee, however it was originally a part of the La Veta Fire Protection District's Quick Response Team out of La Veta, CO. The truck is incredibly rust free and appears to have been taken great care of. Most of the emergency lights work, and the siren is super loud! The trucks runs really well and appears to have had a remanufactured engine installed at some point recently (there is a sticker on the block, however I have no paperwork to verify).
The truck is powered by a 352 V8 (part of Ford's FE series of engines) with a 4 speed stick shift and a Dana 24 transfer case. The truck's rear driveshaft isn't installed, however I have one that just needs to get new u-joints installed. I have been driving it around a little bit on the front driveshaft. The coolest part of the drivetrain is that there is an old school gear splitter overdrive between the engine and the transmission. This configuration allowed you to use the overdrive in both 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive.
I have installed front and rear Dana 44's out of a 1967 F250 and they seem to be in good condition. The tires are older but also look almost new and barely have any miles on them. I installed a new exhaust system on one side of the truck so it sounds quiet but good.
The back of the truck has a very usable utility box, with 3 locking cabinets on either side as well as some built in shelving inside the back. There is a space on the roof where you can add an RV vent to provide air circulation to the back if you wanted to go camping in it. There is also a heater in the back, however I am unsure of the condition of this.
The giant front aluminum bumper has a new 12,000 pound Apex winch installed.
I have gone through a re-done most of the brake lines, a new master cylinder, and brake shoes in the back.
The tires were new when I purchased the truck, and I have put few miles on them. They are 7.50-16 Power Kings. They are on original split rims. I also have a set of super singles with slightly larger tires that fit perfect on the back of this truck which I can provide if the purchaser would like them.
The bad:The radio doesn't appear to work, however it can easily be upgraded with a modern bluetooth radio that would look original. The brake lights need to be hooked up. There is no window in the back of the cab or the front of the utility box, so they are both open to the elements. One of the windows on the back doors is cracked, but probably could be replaced easily. Either the transmission or the transfer case pops out of gear while driving, so I am providing a spare transmission that I believe to be in good condition (unverified). The seat is torn and brittle, so I put on the Mexican blankets to make it more comfortable. The only rust on the entire truck is 2 tiny spots in the floor, on both driver's side and passenger side cab mounts. Easy to replace or just let them be, they are not bad.
Overall the truck is really awesome and turns a lot of heads driving around town. Finding a slick side 4x4 is hard enough, but the fact that there is a handy utility bed on the back just makes this thing even more practical as a vintage camper, work truck, or restored back to its former glory. I encourage the buyer to come look at the truck before purchasing, and I will upload a video to youtube as soon as I can walking around the vehicle.
I DO NOT HAVE A TITLE FOR THE TRUCK, BUT I DO HAVE A VERMONT REGISTRATION INSTEAD. Vermont doesn't offer titles to vehicles over 15 years old, so the registration acts as the ownership document. I can provide the letter from Vermont stating as such that you can show to your DMV and get a title for it. The registration is in my name.
NO WARRANTY - ITS AN OLD TRUCK! Things can break without any warning, I attempted to be as thorough as I possibly could in this description but it is on the buyer to verify that everything is accurate by looking through the photos, watching the video, and messaging me for a time to view the truck in person!
Please message me if you have any more questions!
