Newly (2022) rebuilt 429 with headers with 2.5" pipes going to 6500 series magnaflow mufflers (the SUV ones, not the super loud ones). Not driving it enough and trying to buy a house so need to let it go. Edelbrock carb with electric choke (750 CFM 1411), Edelbrock performance intake, edelbrock performance cam (EDL 7167). New 38 Gallon Dorman gas tank ( 576-035) with new sending unit. Frostbite FB160 Radiator, Frostbite cooling fans. MSD ignition box. MSD Pro-Billet Distributor (85773). Pro-Torque starter (SUM-820048). New main bearing.
I think this engine is a pretty nice setup so hoping the character the rest of the truck has doesn't drag the price down too awful much, would be really nice for the right person!
Haven't put the 2000 break-in miles onto it yet, so if someone's ready for some road trips, it should be good for it. The 429 has a D1VE casting code on it. The 400 that used to be in this truck is in my '79 F100.
Front tires have plenty of tread but getting old. Rear tires have some tread left but less than the fronts.
Body clearly isn't perfect, but not as bad as a lot of them out there. passenger side needs some help and floor pans need some work, drivers side especially. Drip rails not bad, frame is kind of ugly but solid. If you want any close up pictures anywhere specific just let me know and I can add to the listing. To do it right, the muffler pipes should probably be routed better. I haven't been able to find the serial number on the frame yet, but if I find it this weekend I will plan on adding a picture.
The extra tanks don't work but when I've worked on that kind of thing in the past it's not been complicated. Shouldn't need it with the 38 in the back anyway. Brakes work okay but probably due fresh pads, I wouldn't try to stop on a dime.
I have receipts for the engine parts that I got from summit racing if anyone wants them. Local shop has worked on it, so if youre serious about buying I don't mind asking them to check on anything anyone wants more detail on. Not a warranty of any kind of course, but if I ask them it will probably be better info than me guessing with my limited mechanical knowledge. I'm dropping it off Monday to get a new front drive shaft, and I'll have them confirm the 4wd functions while they're at it.
I would prefer to sell to a mechanic or someone familiar with these trucks so they know the routine with maintenance and the typical stuff, and don't freak out if it needs a little more attention than a brand new car.
I really would like to sell within the next two weeks, but if I can't get a decent price then it's not really doing me any good to sell. But I'd also rather sell it fast than fight over a few hundred bucks here and there so feel free to message me with an offer and I can relist it with a buy it now price.
Clear title in hand, says mileage isn't actual.
I can answer any question you ask and I welcome them because I don't want to mess up my 100% seller rating thing on here. But I am not a mechanic. I can replace a fuel pump, rebuild a carburetor and things that are just bolt on or bolt off. But I've never set the timing on anything and never done anything that requires actual training or skill, so if theres anything you want to figure out that isn't shown on the pictures just let me know. I will have it in the shop this coming week as of Monday so if you want to call them just let me know and I can provide the number and let them know you may be calling after it. But if you're not really that serious please don't bother with all that, just don't want to tie up their phones with 20 people asking the same question and then it doesn't even sell.
I really love these old trucks, I just haven't had time or money to do much with it other than keep it running so I hope it finds a home where someone has more time to enjoy it!
Thanks for looking!
