A Short Paragraph on Henry Ford
Ford the Henry was never the first at most things yet he was given credit because of his bold aggressive nature and shrewd marketing abilities. He had many jobs before building his company.
He worked for the Detroit Automobile Company for several years before going out on his own. Studebaker built the first moving assembly line, yet Ford took credit for it and soon made a fortune. His motivation was to build a car for the masses and he did. He tinkered and borrowed before completing his first car, the quadricycle built in a shed behind his house at 58 Bagley Avenue. He was the first to build a mass-produced factory station wagon in 1929. He advertised it as a ‘better idea on wheels.’ Since then, one great wagon innovation after another has made Ford the wagon master.
There is no concrete evidence of what the Ford LTD stands for, only speculation. We know the nameplate is a luxury legend. Distinguished, luxurious, and stylish best describe it. The LTD wagon offered here is a famous upscale Ford. 1978 was the last 121 WB LTD. It is a stand-alone vehicle, marking its path and status every time it is shown or driven. There is nothing else like it on the road – not even close. This is a vehicle you will not tire of. It is a practical automobile with a smooth ride, awesome big block power, huge merch-carrying capability, and comfortable seating for six adults with room to spare.
It acts and sounds powerful because it is. It accelerates quickly and shifts perfectly. There is no shimmy, shake, or pull. There are no leaks. There are no caution lights. It has the big block engine and cruise-o-matic transmission. The sound from the twin pipes is pleasant, yet throaty. It spits power. This is a fast car!
The odometer reads just 99,000 and it looks the part. The underside is clean and solid and shows well. Open the doors and you will find no sag. Every door seam looks new or close to it. There has been no paint or touch-up on any of the doors. All the factory stickers are in place. The glass has no cracks or chips. The seats are extra nice – no soil, wear, or tears. The carpet is in good condition except for a small area on the driver’s side. A heeled shoe did some damage which has been repaired. The dash and door pads look new.
EXTERIOR
The exterior is low, long, and beautiful. The myriad burnished finish was carefully appointed and appeals to everyone; bold, yet subtle. A burgundy band accents both sides. Several dress-ups decorate and excite the entire exterior. The P235/60R15 tires are news. Crager chrome SS wheels complete the car nicely.
I did my best to present everything I know about this vehicle. If anything was overlooked, there are forty close-up photos in the ad plus a YouTube video.
