1955 Ford Thunderbird Classic Raven Black Restored Additional Info:

1955 Ford Thunderbird repainted in its original Raven Black with a black and white interior, powered by Ford’s legendary ‘Y’ block 292 c.i./193 h.p. V-8 and backed by Ford’s 2-speed automatic transmission.

This car was purchased at a company liquidation in 1988 where it had been sitting for a number of years. Starting then, the owner began restoring the T-Bird without taking it off its frame. Most of the restoration work was done in the early to mid-1990’s, including the paint and upholstery. Receipts for all the work performed are included.

The Ford became road worthy in the mid to late 1990’s while the owner continued to update the car with NOS and new parts.

The 292 ‘Y’ block engine is not original to the car. So this is not a number’s matching T-Bird. Also, the carburetor was recently changed to an Edelbrock item new fuel lines and gas tank.

During the restoration a new wiring harness was added, and the car was converted to a 12-volt system. Seats were reupholstered as well as a new top with all the braces. The owner added a custom smaller steering wheel which is similar to the original and an AM/FM/CD player.

Some of the missing knobs in the dash are also included with the sale. Since ownership the odometer has not worked, but the owner’s best guess of mileage since its completion he hasn’t driven it more than 2,000 miles.

The tires are made by Diamond Industries and have less than 500 miles on them.

Included with the car is an aftermarket fiberglass hardtop which has not been fitted to the car.

This T-Bird is not a ‘trailer queen’ but instead needs to be driven to be enjoyed.
