By 1973, Ford's Mustang had grown in size from its original dimensions in 1964. Nineteen seventy-three became the final model year for this original generation car. This car has been lovingly cared for the last 50 years and come with 2 2" binders of service receipts, registrations from 1974 forward, original Ford consumer information, Ford warranty facts booklet, a 73 Mustang illustrated facts and specifications manual and more.
Finished in Bright Yellow Gold Metallic exterior (code 6F) with black trim and a black vinyl, power-folding top that is in very good order. The paint and trim are in likewise very good overall. The car's bodywork is straight and solid and it has a mix of bumpers, body-colored Endura in front and a chrome bumper in back. The engine bay is tidy.
This pony rolls on Primewell Sport PS860 radials, size 235/70R15 at all four corners. Each one is mounted to a Rally wheel. The tires and wheels are all in very good order.
Under the hood is a 351 CID Cleveland V-8 engine (VIN code H) with an Autolite 2100 two-barrel carburetor. This motor is backed by a factory C6 three-speed automatic transmission (code U) and a 2.75:1 rear end (code 2). Driver convenience features include power steering and power brakes with discs up front.
Inside is a Medium Ginger vinyl interior (code CF). The high-back front bucket seats are in overall great condition with matching carpeting. A two-spoke steering wheel faces the driver while inner door panels and dashboard look great. Even the courtesy lights still work! The center console looks fine, as does the console-mounted shifter. A JVC AM/FM stereo with cassette deck rounds out the interior.
Nineteen seventy-three brought some mild restyling. The urethane front bumper became standard and was enlarged in accordance with new NHTSA standards. All Mustang models had their sportlamps replaced with vertical turn signals, as the new bumper covered the previous turn signal locations in the front valance. Both a Mach 1 and base grille were offered, with differing insert patterns. The 1973 model year Mustang was the final version of the original pony car.
This was the final version of the original "big" Mustang before the Mustang II debuted in 1974, followed by the Fox-body Mustang five years later. If you prefer this generation of Mustang, you owe it to yourself to stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars and take a look at this classic droptop.
