This 1932 Ford roadster is not only one of the most iconic hot rod shapes of all time, but is also a very flexible car that offers many different looks. Top up or down / on or off, engine bay open or enclosed, Zoomie headers or rear exhaust; it’s like getting several different cars in one.
Titled as a 1932 Ford, this car was built in California and sits on a custom steel frame with a fiberglass body and steel hood. It has almost 10,000 miles since completion. The white paint with blue flames and pinstriping is a fresh look you don’t often see, while the louvered side covers are painted to match. The blue fabric top is in great shape and is easy to operate. It can be folded down or removed completely. The aluminum wheels are a nice touch and fit the look of the car.
The drivetrain uses a 350ci Chevy with a TH350 automatic transmission and Ford 9” rear end. This is a well-proven recipe for any street car and is especially potent in a lightweight street rod. Two exhausts are provided, the first being a conventional rear setup (which needs some partial assembly) while the second is an awesome set of Zoomie headers that bolt right on. This car also has four-wheel disc brakes along with a Mustang II style front end with rack and pinion steering. This is also a proven design that looks good too with lots of plated parts.
The custom interior features a two-tone bench seat with tweed inserts. There are also matching door panels with embossed flames. The pinstriped dash is very orderly with a full set of retro looking VDO gauges, and has an audio head unit hidden underneath. The steering column is a tilt setup which makes ingress/egress so much easier. All lights and turn signals work properly as does the horn. Note there are no wipers, side windows, or seat belts.
The ’32 Ford is one of the most popular hot rods in the world, and for good reason. It not only has great lines but also represents the dawn of an era, when V8 power and the phrase “hot rod” began to take hold. This one gives you lots of different options in a great looking package with proven, reliable parts. And a fun factor is very hard to beat!
