1948 Ford Other Additional Info:
1948 Ford Woody Wagon that was stored for over 25 to 30 years and has been in California all of its life and is a real survivor. It now runs drives and stops. It has an upgraded flathead engine (8BA is on the head), installed by the previous 2nd owner, not original to the car. To refresh the car to make it drive this was done: new 12 volt batery, new nos stock fuel pump with glass bowl, new fuel filters one in engine compartment and one under the car, new rubber fuel lines were needed, original fuel tank cleaned and lined (there were no pinholes or rusted areas in the tank), new nos brake master cylinder, new wheel cylinders all around, new brake shoes, all three rubber brake lines replaced, new tires all around. The car was converted to 12 volt at some point. The creative second owner installed a VW 12 volt generator and regulator and they work just fine.
Surprisingly the only rust found in the car is in the drivers area as pictured below under the peddles. Floors front and rear are solid there are NO patches! All three seats are in the car the front and second seats are useable the rear seat has no material, all three seats are original. It has the desireable Fulton visor. The headlights work, the tail lights work, the stop lights work, the had brake works, gas gauge works. The rear header was replaced, the rubber top has shrunk at the rear header over the years and it taped down and could use replacement. Passenger door was repaired as needed. The often missing rain gutters are on the car. All the glass is good no cracks. The ofter broken or missing thumb locks on the rear doors are original and on the car.On the firewall in white is the original date stamp of March 2 1948 the date it rolled off the assembly line. Only approx 9000 Ford Woody Wagons were built in 1948. It was repainted at some point in its life and I do not believe it is the original color. The fog lights have Ford stamped on them. There are some extra parts that go with the car: starter, generator, transmission, steering column and a complete rearend (brake drum to drum and the side arms and driveline).
I am going to try to post video of the car running and driving and a video of the doors opening and closing.
This is a found as is vehicle and not a restored car. I am the third owner of this rare find. Current California tags and registration and I have a clear California title. Drive it the way it is or fix as you drive. This car is not perfect.
There is no warranty on the care and transportation is the responsibility of the new owner. I will help were I can.
