1966 Ford Mustang Additional Info:
We all love the original pony car as a true collectable. But few come with as good documentation as this 1966 Ford Mustang. That how we have a recognized low-mileage car where even the V8 under the hood is believed to be original!
It's awesome to know the full history on a car. This one started life as Texas coupe, and the woman sold it in 1977. It stayed with the second owner under long term care (and climate-controlled storage) until 2015. Now the third owner is making it available again. So that means you have the opportunity to be only the fourth person to take this home in over half a century of history! And this car is the right one for the kind of person who wants to tell its story. The Sahara Beige paint is the factory-correct color, and it was a limited edition only available in 1966. This did receive one respray in the 1980s, but the way it looks today really solidifies that this was a well-respected coupe (after all, this has only averaged about 1,050 miles annually.) So it has the right premium hue to look like a dignified elder with a story to tell. Great body lines, bright chrome bumpers, and a touch of elegance from Mustang wire wheel covers all add up to an impressive coupe frozen in time.
Inside is the factory-correct Parchment with Palomino trim. This has its roots in Texas, and this interior has the earthy appeal of the prairie. The owner states this is the original interior for the car, and it's hard to find a thing out of place (yes, the center console is removable.) The carpeting, upholstery, door panels, dash, and headliner all have a time capsule quality. Even the original trunk mat is beneath protective carpeting. There are terrific classic details, like the crisp floor shifter, and the AM radio is still there for display. Plus, the correct under dash air conditioning unit is still blowing nice and cold. The right pony cars were great driver's machines, and so you have front bucket seats, a grippy sports steering wheel, and full instrumentation, including Rally Pac tach/clock combo.
This is a C-code coupe, and so we love lifting the hood to see the bright blue V8 block, matching air topper, and big blue air grabber with 289 cubic-inch callout. And because we have such a long maintenance file, it's easy to believe the consignor's claim that this is the original motor for the car. The same goes for the three-speed automatic transmission. While it all looks quite stock on top, there are some key upgrades underneath that keep this a terrific cruiser. This includes a newer gas tank, stainless dual exhaust, and power front disc brakes.
The big history file includes title documentation, the owner's manual, service manuals, and maintenance records. It all proves that this is a true special pony for those whole love a well-respected classic. Are you ready to write your chapter in this car's history? Call now!
