1984 Ford F150 Pickup Additional Info:

1984 Ford F-150 Pickup

The Ford Motor Company, with its F-series, has long held the distinction of building the best-selling trucks in America. That distinction dates back many decades, as Ford's commercial Model A and AA variants were also the most popular in their day. The best-selling Ford truck of 1931 was the Closed Cab Pick-up, which brought passenger-car style and some new features to the market.

From the sunny south, where it rarely snows and even if it does, the southern Depts. of Trans. doesn't have a clue what salt is! We are consigning a 1984 Ford F-150 step side with the modern look of the late 80's for the front and the classic look on the back for the cab and stepside and large FORD badge painted on the tailgate. Wood for the bed, and white paint give us a beauty for a classic, and all buttoned up underneath the hood.

Exterior
Starting at the very beginning...a very good place to start...we see late 80's square and rectangle design for the headlights with thin chrome bezel surrounds that melt into a horizontal rectangular grille with more chrome ribs and a black egg crate background. Below is the clean and shiny bumper. All metal is solid, minding its gaps, and bathed in nice white respray. On either side a black trim piece with a centered thin chrome strip that runs from front quarter to just to the step side. After this, the bed starts behind a sliding glass window for some extra passenger venting. The rounded exterior mounted fenders allow for more room in the bed, which is made of solid pressure treated hardwood with a weatherproof finish stain. On back are the rectangular headlights hanging off the sides of the bed and these flank the FORD badged tailgate. 15-inch American Racing #39 wheels in very attractive cleanliness are on all 4 corners and wrapped by 225/75R15's all around.

Interior
Door panels mix molded blue plastic covered with some vertical tweed broadcloth to add a bit of softness for the doors. Blue carpet rims the bottoms and speakers, power locks, a small storage bin, and window toggles reside on these panels as well. Turning our attention to the passengers, a rugged blue vinyl bench with some patina stretches from door to door. This big seat floats in a sea of blue carpet which is also in good condition. Above is the original dash with a lineup on top of warning lights, a gray insert panel for the square gauges, and some molded blue as surrounds. In the center is another black panel housing the AM/FM/cassette radio and temp controls. This panel is slightly dirty and worn. Above is a blue felted headliner and a courtesy light mounted on back above the rear sliding glass.

Drivetrain
Consigner states that it runs better than a new truck today, with its newly installed radiator, alternator, fuel pump, clutch pressure plate and starter. The 5.0 Liter V8 looks real sweet and all painted silver for the block and intake, and topped with a clean 2-barrel finely tuned carburetor. A 4-speed manual transmission is on back, and to add some excitement to the engine bay a chromed air cleaner cover is now on, as are chromed valve covers,

Undercarriage
Slight surface rust is noted on the frame, solid pressure treated wood lines the bed underneath with no stain, and all mechanicals underneath show some road dirt. Rockers are solid and surface rust is a bit heavier up front on the suspension and framing but it remains very solid. Radius arm and coil springs for the front, and leaf springs for the back with power disc brakes upfront, and power drums for the rear. The exhaust is fairly rust free with the rounded muffler needing attention in the near future.

Drive-Ability
Starts with the quick turn of the key and idles smoothly. After the warmup, it was off for a street cruise where it performed very nicely, all functions working normally. Nothing wrong on the driving end of this classic.

Nice white paint, a classic looking bed and step side, and an 80's front end with a good interior which can handle the ruggedness of the job site. The V8 is snappy and looks good to boot. I guess now is the time to use my pickup line: Built Ford Tough!
