1989 Ford Mustang Additional Info:

1989 Ford Mustang Saleen #722.No Reserve.Low miles.Low # of previous owners.California and Arizona car.High horsepower.Looks great.Sounds great.Runs and drives great.Clean, clear, notarized title.No games, no surprises.
Hope you like to read, cause you're about to.West coast California and Arizona car most all of its life with a low number of previous owners. Not a rusted out underneath car from the east coast or midwest, CA and AZ car where here in AZ we have 0 humidity, 0 rain, and only 1 weather: hot and dry. Again, not a rainy, humid down south, east coast or midwest car here.
Real Saleen car. Rare. Original motor stroked to a 347 with Vortec supercharger. Extremely fast and sounds great. I was told by a previous owner that he dyno'd it and it has around 550hp at the rear wheels. I haven't dyno tuned it on my own yet to verify that though. It does feel faster after 40mph than my old 2012 ZL1 Camaro due to weighing much less probably. I'm sure if I wasn't lazy and actually did dyno it and posted a pic of the dyno slip and big horsepower # the car has, I could ask a lot for the car.
T5 manual. Runs and drives and handles well. Clean title. 68,241 box A miles. The guy I bought it from put $10,000 in the drivetrain. I bought it and put another $10,000 in the last year in paint and anything I could find to fix on it since I have no life and I'm a big car guy. So you're basically getting a real Saleen that was probably worth $24,000+ before the additional $20,000 was put into it in the last couple years. Has a small roll cage in the back. Has wider Mickey Thompson 255/50R16 ET Street S/S tires in the rear. Probably not the car for a hardcore saleen cryboy purist. I'm guessing it will be purchased by someone who races or just doesn't want a slow, stock 225 horsepower Saleen, and wants a deal on a nice, clean, low mile Saleen (with a low # of previous owners) and a car that's already been expensively modded to run fast.
High performance upgrades include a high performance crank pulley, harmonic balancer, fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel rail, clutch, vortech supercharger, 2 core champion aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, motor has been stroked to 347 and built, intake manifold, throttle body, etc. etc. and on and on. All of that stuff is very expensive. For instance a crank pulley is like $250 for the part plus labor to install it, a high performance harmonic balancer is like $330 for the part plus labor to install it. It all adds up to a ton of money.
Hagerty values average mile Fox Saleens at $24K+. To me, 68k miles on an '89 is well below average miles.

Needs/issues: Surprise surprise right in your eyes. $20,000+ went into the car in the last 2-3 years, I left the next owner $1,000 in repairs to do if they even care about any of this smaller stuff. Likely any faded out original paint rusted underneath east coast and midwest $18k-28k Saleen you see up for sale hasn't had 40+ repairs and $20k put into it in the last 3 years and still needs all 40 of those tweaks and all that money put into it plus the other 6 or 8 remaining tweaks this car could still use listed below. No one likes surprises so this should be everything I can think of that could use attention on the car if you're a perfectionist:
Needs a new headliner, current headliner has some rips.Looks like someone dropped a rock pipe in l.a. in the late 80s in the driver side back seat and fell asleep til their cheeks caught on fire. The $75 interior plastic piece just to the left of the rear LH seat has a melted mark from it.Carpet has some dirt on the front RH side and needs a good cleaning.Instrument cluster bulbs don't light up at night time when you turn the headlights on. All headlights and brake lights and turn signals work though.Front brake rotors and pads were changed and vacuum hoses and all brake fluid was replaced, front brake pads squeak every once in a while a little right before you come to a complete stop. I changed the front brake pads twice in the last month cause I didn't like the original set or the first new set I put on and I still don't like the 2nd new set I put on. I can probably include more new brake pads in boxes for the car if I remember. No AC.Would benefit from having the hood pin system changed out, right now they are too tall so hood gaps show.Hood gaps may also be showing due to previous owner claiming his son backed into it in the driveway and also because hood slightly resting on the tall supercharger, inside of hood could be ground down a tiny bit by someone to try to remedy that.Cruise control used to work but stopped working, idk why.CD player likely doesn't work but radio does work.It has a lot of high performance parts including a high performance clutch so you have to be sure to push the clutch all the way to the ground and even then it still may lightly grind into reverse.I had a bigger cold air intake system on it previously that didn't have a very good filter on it and my mechanic guy didn't like it so he threw it out and put a different air intake on. The car is set up with a bigger fuel pump, fuel injectors and a custom fuel rail to get tons of fuel to go extremely fast, since changing the cold air intake I think it now gets less air than before and the same large amount of fuel so I think it would definitely run even faster if you put a bigger, better cold air intake on like an Andersonfordmotorsport 4" powerpipe and tuned it with one of their PMS series 4 tuners and the car would not run a little rich and would really really really rip even better I bet. Some paint chips and paint imperfections on the hood and front bumpers.New door seals so you still have to slam the doors pretty hard due to having big new rubber seals.Battery is mounted in the trunk. I don't like the battery or connections it has now. A good idea would be for the next owner to put a plain top post battery in it and convert the connections to a regular plain jane old fashioned top post setup.Hatch latch has a little bit of play in it.Has a jack, but missing the donut spare tire
Meticulously maintained by me in the last year. Recent repairs and upgrades done within the last 2,000 miles:

Car gets a good amount of attention when taken to mustang shops and car shows, with people who have never seen a fox Saleen in person walking up and checking it out and taking pictures on their phones. Definitely fun to take to shows and park next to the other fox body Mustangs there and hog up all the attention and watch and feel your popularity sky rocket through the clouds. A lot of car for the price of a used Chevy Cruze and for only a couple grand more than people are asking for regular non-saleen mustangs these days. Due to the limited production of fox Saleens and how few are still left and how infrequently they come up for sale, it's not like a low mile fox Saleen is going down in value any time soon. The fox Saleen values are only going in 1 direction and that is up. And based on the millions of fox body Mustang fans that are out there, again these are pretty good cars to own.
