1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Additional Info:
This is a numbers-matching 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 in a rare and original color. So with something this special, it's great to find an example that's the right mix of preservation and correct restoration.
Calypso Coral was only offered for a couple of years on the Mustang, but it's one we love. After all, if feels like Ford's answer to Chevy's Hugger Orange. And this boldness also has rarity considering there were likely less than 900 Boss 302s painted this way for 1970. Not only do you have the distinction of this factory-correct color, but also it looks to be about half original. The front of the vehicle seems to still carry the factory-applied finish, and the rear has been blended to make sure it still completes the color. And there's even plenty of real-deal patina to make sure this car gets to proudly tell its unique story. The odometer is believed to reflect the actual mileage - averaging less than 1,700 miles annually over the last half-century. And the way the big coupes doors close with confidence means this Boss has been treated with care down to the details. Speaking of details, this retains all the best pieces you love. The dark performance parts look great against the orange, including the front air dam, blackout rear, full-width rear spoiler, and the iconic stripe package that truly announces this is the Boss.
The full black interior is part of this attractive and original package, too. The high-back bucket seats, door panels, seat belts, and steering wheel all look particularly nice for original equipment. Items like the dash pad and carpeting were replaced with correct materials, so that you can get a full classic style but with a fresh feel in essential places. In fact, this one revels in its vintage status so much that details like the Philco AM radio are still there for display. But the original piece you're going to like the most is the Hurst shifter. It puts you in full control of the special Boss motor.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 302 cubic-inch V8 special to the Boss 302. It was recently meticulously rebuilt, and so that's why the presentation is so fresh, right down to the correct decals. In fact, dig a little deeper. They made sure this has the correct four-barrel carburetor, hoses, distributor, air cleaner, fuel pump, rev limiter, exhaust manifolds, and much more. You'll even spot the Drag Pack oil cooler assembly that was a rare dealer installed option when new. It all makes for the kind of package you'll proudly lift the hood and showcase at the car shows. Of course, a true Boss 302 was made to be driven, and so they rebuilt the front and rear suspension for confidence on the road. The toploader four-speed manual transmission, 3.50 limited-slip rear end, and power brakes with front discs combine to keep you well in control. The undercarriage photos show off a cool mix of fresh components and the correct red undercoating paint. This one really feels authentic, right down to the correct Mag 500 wheels with reproduction Goodyear Polyglas GT tires.
Complete with owner's manual, this is a rare Boss 302 that's an intoxicating mix of originality and the right investments. So it's hard not to get excited about this coupe. Call now!
