1961 Ford Thunderbird Roadster Additional Info:
Stunning car. Fantastic design features in and out. This is one of the better ones I've seen, restored from the ground up.
EXTERIOR: Designed to look like a missile with the taillights mimicking thrusters. This one is further decked out with the roadster package. This includes wire wheels and a tonneau cover that turns it into a 2 seater. It is restored beautifully. The body is clean and straight. Those doors fit remarkably well, it smooth all along the bottom. The paint is polished better than the factory finish. The chrome and trim is beautiful, all new or restored. Upfront the headlight bezels, bumper, moldings and emblem are excellent. The stainless moldings that run front to back and around the windshield is straight and polished. In back all the chrome and tail lights are excellent. The retractable top is a crowd pleaser when being operated, it's like a transformer. It has had $1,000 just spend modernizing the system to be more reliable. The top is in excellent condition. The tonneau cover is lightweight and easily lifts off in under 1 minute with 1 person. It also does not interfere with the top, it can be left on with top up. The Kelsey Hayes wire wheels are excellent, has new tires.
INTERIOR: Excellent condition. Upholstery is excellent, it does have a full back seat under the lid. The trim across the dash is excellent. The gauge cluster is beautiful. The center console is excellent, has an owners manual inside. The visors and mirror look new. Carpets are excellent, has red seat belts front and back. Door panels look to be real nice original. Features include power windows, power seat and the very cool swing away wheel. The original build sheet was found inside the car.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Big 390 motor with 300 horsepower pulls this car down the road with ease. The motor compartment is show quality. The whole engine bay is nice clean metal with factory spot welds and seams still crisp. It is all painted red. The motor is clean with rechromed correct valve covers. Everything's detailed, has washer bag, hood insulation, reproduction hose clamps and decals. All the components are clean and painted. Wiring is tidy. It features power steering and power brakes.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The entire compartment where the top stores is beautifully restored and detailed. All the metal is painted, the hardware and brackets are real nice. It has the plaid liner kit.
UNDERSIDE: It is actually very nice underneath this car. It was thoroughly restored. The floors look like they're dry as a chalkboard, smooth clean metal that is painted satin black. The suspension and steering was all apart. You can tell the hardware, bushings etc were replaced. In the back the springs, suspension and shocks have been replaced. Brakes were restored. Looking up at the motor and trans they are clean and fresh.
This is an under valued car in my opinion. Such stylish design in and out, such unique features and priced less than most of the Camaros and Mustangs I sell!
