1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Hard Top 390
You are viewing a beautiful partially restored Galaxie 500 XL with lots of originality and very presentable. Purchased in 2010 with the majority of the work done 15 years ago. Just turned over 100K miles. 500 miles driven on the car since purchase. Driven ever year and maintained. The car runs and drives excellent and is a great hiway cruiser.
Please read on for more particulars of the car:
Body/Paint: The body is all original Ford steel and a very dry car as original. Original floor and trunk pans. Weather stripping replaced. The body is in very good condition. The paint is base/clear and painted a number of years ago with only a couple small chips. Shows very nice and would look better just with a light buffing. The paint is in very good condition. No know rust on the car other than normal road grime and surface rust in place on the underside of the car, which is unrestored.
Interior: Original interior in fantastic condition for its age. Carpet was replaced 12 years ago. Very presentable and shows well. The package shelf is not altered. No holes due to the speakers. They speakers are on top of small carpet pieces in order to stay in place. The can easily be removed. Added stereo CD player mounted in the glove compartment. Sounds very good. The dash is in excellent shape. Shows that the car was taken care of and garaged for decades. PS, PB, no tilt column. Original radio doesn’t work.
Running Gear: Original drivetrain, engine, trans and rear end. Engine has been rebuilt with the entire engine bay very presentable. Original Carb rebuilt just a few years ago. Original air cleaner comes with the car that is very nice. Comes with new 427 Chrome valve covers. Water pump was just replaced. Transmission is a Cruise O Matic 3 speed rebuilt in the past. The rear is a 9 inch and works as it should.
Suspension: The frame and underside is unrestored and looks good. The front suspension has be rebuilt in the past. The car rides and drives excellent and tight.
Bright work: Bumpers rechromed, stainless polished, a few original pieces of chrome are original and presentable, but are showing slight signs of wear like the door handles. Has 427 front fender insignias. 390 come with the car.
Glass: Side glass is original to the car in great condition. Windshield has been replaced.
Exhaust: Newer 2 ¼ in exhaust with glass packs. Sounds nice.
Brakes: Original drum power assisted brakes all the way around restored in the past. Stops as it should. Dual brake line master cylinder added for safety with restored original booster.
Wheels/Tires: Ultra polished aluminum wheels. Grand AM radials. 215/65 15 fronts and 245/60 15 rears. Original 14 inch painted steel wheels come with the car along with the original caps in really nice condition.
Summary: The car is very presentable and shows well. Great higher end driver that is primarily an original car in many areas with drivetrain restored and one repaint. I have over 120 pictures of the car so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures. Reasonable price. The car is ready to be driven and enjoyed and needs nothing. Great value and a quality car for the money.
