1940 Ford Deluxe Deluxe Additional Info:
1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible - Restored many years ago and driven very sparingly. Many of you will look at the dust and believe it is faked to look like a Barn find discovery. I assure you it is not. I was covered dirt after my inspection. I am representing this car for the estate of the late owner. We will be removing it from the carport that it has sat in for at least 5 years shortly. You can buy it now andsave some money. There are piles of extra parts that surround the car and block it in so we will be removing these to access the car. The parts and tools will also for sale. Many of which you can see in pictures but if you call me I can give you a partial list now. I will know more as I remove them, and organize.
The current owner has owned the car for over 50 years. Our next step will be to bring it to our shop and polish it up as well as painstakingly recommission it. My experience is some buyers like to be the ones to do the recommission so here is your chance. During the recommission process I will be able to assess it completely. For now I have basic information.
The owner has documented on a piece of paper the "only" not stock items are below. He may have done more after he wrote this. I will know shortly as i go through the file.HeadersDual ExhaustSmitty MufflersLebaron Bonney TopLeather interior surfaces
I observed the following items while with the car for a few hours last weekend:
Body: Paint and body look excellent. I belie the paint to be lacquer done in the late 70's or early 80's. I do not see signs of rust repair or patching. Once out and cleaned I will be pain metering the complete car. I believe this was a very solid car before the owner restored it. This gentleman was very active as a supplier of 50's Thunderbird's in the early 80's He knew his cars well.
Chassis: Excellent restoration. The bottom of the car still appears fresh.
Interior: The leather looks and smells excellent. There is a dummy in the front seat that can go with the car should you want to roam the HOV lanes as a single driver. The dash and wiring all look excellent. Much of the wiring is restored using original cloth loom.
Motor: A 85HP flat head. Looks stock, and nicely details. We have not turned the motor due to old fuel, and the need to pre-lubricate.
There you have it an honest to goodness Barnfind. If you desire to have one that you pull out of the barn this is it. You will not need to restore it once its running. Please call me to ask any questions, make an appointment to see it. I will be pulling it out on Saturday.
My auction almost always end early due to a sale.
