By the time Ken Maisano owner of Mascar Auto Body in Costa Mesa Ca. founr this car it was in Atlanta and underwent a partial restoration. Maisano decided to start from square one and after spending time to find the correct date coded engine,subjected the car to multi year,108k restoration The rotisserie reboot began in 2008 included a few floor patches,progressed to prepping original quarter panels and ended with a body that was entirely e-coated. The razor straight and professionally aligned body was highlighted with a glossy coat of correct medium blue metallic two stage paint and dressed in black Boss 302 war paint. Today 4500 miles later this car sits as a incredible show stopper.
At the leading edge of this Boss a correct mustang branded grill hangs bright FoMoCo headlights, a chrome bumper,crystal clear parking lamps and an aggressive chin spoiler.A the top of that grill. a ridged hood leads to like new glass framed by stainless wipers,correct sport mirrors,and a combination of polished and painted trim.Equipped with chrome trimmed lights and traditional Ford door handles. Stroked to 331 cubic inches,upgraded to a one piece rear seal and completely balanced and blueprinted, this mustang's date-correct 302 utilizes a heavy dutyblock design,correct free flow heads,a forged nitride crank. a competition camshaft,,Crowder sportsman connecting rods,forged Keith Black pistons and correct aluminum intake to create mountains of horsepower. At the top a Ford blue aircleaner feeds a big 4 barrel carburetor, a familiar points distributor and correct Autolite Radio resistant plug wires. At the side of thedistributor,restored cast iron exhaust manifolds send gases to stainless steel true dual pipes. A recored Ford radiator sends water to fresh Autolite hoses. The V8 has been sufficiently coated in Ford blue paint and seated in a satin black bay. Also a Cloyes billet timing set,Mahle piston rings, TRW bearings, ARP bolts and Smith Brothers pushrods. All items like correct marks and decals, a tagged Autolite Sta-Full battery, a correct Autolite rev limiter,and a correct Autolite ignition module and factory smog equipment round out a trophy winning engine bay.
The bottom of this car has been restored to the same high quality standards.Behind the motor, a date correct,wide ratio 4-speed engages a new Centerforce clutch. Rear end upgraded with a Sure Grip differential and steep 3.91 gears. A completely restored independent front and solid axle rear suspension mixes like new, OEM grade equipment with correct paint marks.Optional power steering combined with optional power front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Correctly oversprayed floor pans, fresh true dual exhaust to a H pipe crossover and turbo mufflers.
Eqipped with OEM Magnum 500's and 245/60R/15 Goodyear Radial TA's with galloping horse center caps. A new stainless fuel tank is equipped. Inside this is a correct medium blue interior with freshly covered vinylseats, black headliner,blue carpets,and color coded floor mats.
The dash is loaded with rebuilt and rechromed gauges, a correct Philco AM radio. A chrome Hurst shifter is located in a medium blue console. A medium blue steering wheel is fitted on a black steering column. A restored trunk features a correct mat,jack,lid decal and collapsible tire.
