1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Additional Info:
This restored 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL comes from a special time in Ford's history. So it's great to have it in a distinct color combo and V8 power all wrapped in a vintage fastback body built for cruising.
Those who know Fords, know how special this car is. 1963 was the first year Ford had a little fun with aerodynamics, and they introduced the fastback roofline to better compete in NASCAR. So it's great to have a coupe that really loves to highlight this history with the white vinyl roof looking distinct and premium against the turquoise paint. And this sporty attitude is continued with the white stripe package, concave grille, wraparound bumpers, and jet-inspired taillight trim. Plus, the full-length brightwork double strips that run the length of the car give it a speedy look while also highlighting how nicely the doors fit. It even has iconic Mag-style wheels for an extra bit of sporty flair.
The factory-correct blue interior has a level of care that's fantastic to see in the top-of-the-line, full-sized Ford. That's because there's plenty of great bright trim incorporated into the weave of the door panels and seats to makes this a very cool place to spend some time. Bucket seats are the kind of thing you could get in the up-market 500 XL, and so you'll really enjoy the individual comfort that even comes with a stylized center console. The three-spoke steering wheel with bright inner trim is a vintage favorite, and so is the long horizontal speedometer flanked by the round gauge pods. As you gaze across the dash, you see plenty of great brightwork that makes us all love these big '60s coupes. It's complete, right down the AM radio that's still on display. But as you look closer, there are some well-done upgrades. For example, there are handy auxiliary gauges cleanly installed, and your real driving tunes comes from a modern AM/FM/CD/XM stereo hidden in the glovebox.
The fender callouts were not lying, and under the hood is the big 390 cubic-inch V8. It's not only the correct motor for this Z-code coupe, but also this is believed to be the original block for the car. It received attention during the restoration, and there has also been additional solid investments in keeping it running strong within the last few years. Topped with Holley four-barrel carburetor a motor of this size has no trouble giving this full-size Ford some real get-up-and-go, and the dual exhaust makes a powerful sound without losing the car's cruising attitude. This driving confidence is heightened further by the Galaxie's Crusie-O-Matic transmission rebuilt less than a year ago. Plus, there's power steering and power brakes featuring a front disc upgrade. It all makes for a powerful coupe that feels quite solid in the road.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, maintenance records, service manuals, build receipts, and restoration photos. This is the cool fastback Ford that has been given the right investments to make you want to bring it how right now. Call today!!!
