Up for bid is a 1959 Ford Sunliner built in California on July 29, 1959 at San Jose California Ford assembly as a top of the line promo car for Broadway Ford 34 miles away in OaklandCalifornia. This was the first year for the Galaxie name plate and one of the last 1959 models ever built. This car Bay Area native was sold new in Oakland and has never left and has been in a very large private collection of over 300 classics that is being liquidated. This Galaxie was purchased by the father of the owner in and around 1973 and has been sealed away in a giant warehouse for nearly half a century. The car is a time capsule finished in Colonial white #E and still has it's original power top and original Radiant Geranium soft text-textured vinyl interior #53 and the desirable 300 hp Ford Interceptor 352-4V FE V8 power option backed by a Cruise-O-Matic automatic with power distributed through a 2.69:1 rear end. The exterior features include dual side view mirror, dual exhaust and the original Sun Ray wheel covers mounted on 50 plus year old wide white wall tires with optional curb feeler's
In 1959 Ford added the Galaxie, which assumed the top position inthe Ford model lineup. The car wore the Fairlane 500 badge in addition to its Galaxie badge, with the Fairlane 500 representing the top of the line trim level. The Galaxie was offered in six body configurations : Town sedan, Club Sedan, Town Victoria, Sunliner, and Skyliner convertible. The styling was short lived, with a redesigned, second-generation Galaxie debuting for 1960.

Cosmetically this car is a true survivor. For the last 61 years she has not left the confines of Northern California. This Galaxie is in great shape for a 61 year old convertible. The body is quite straight with no rust. The Colonial white paint shinesbeautifully. It is a 61 year old car and is not perfect there are little dings here and there but no damage or any real dents. All the original chrome trim is in tact and nothing is missing. It shines nicely but again it is 61 years old and not perfect there is dings as well as pitting here in there. The bumpers do have little dings and the rear has some dents. The original convertible top is fully functional and has no rips or tears and looks great. The original Greanium convertible boot is not dried out and has its elasticitywith no tears. All the original glass is there with no cracks. All the wheels still have their originalhubcaps including one for the spare tire. Overall this 59 Ford is in great shape for its age considering its a 61 year old convertible that is very original. I have included high definition photos of the good and the bad.
Step inside and you will find a beautiful original interior. Nothing has been reupholstered or replaced, this is amazing considering it is a 61 year convertible. The combination of age and weather typically dont fare well for convertibleswith this being one of the rare exceptions. All the seats are comfortable with no rips or tears, and the Radiant Geranium color is as radiant as ever. The detaileddesign and colors are nostalgic and unmistakablyfrom the 50s. The carpet has no holes and looks great. The door panels look great and have no imperfections. The dash is all there and looks great. All of the chrome and polished pieces shine nicely. I cannot emphasize enoughhow cool it is to see an convertibleinterior of this vintage look this good after all these years. It truly is a testament to the life its lived outside of the elements.
Mechanically this car is runs and drives. All of the drive trainfrom the engine to the rear end is original. That being said I want to set the right expectationsit 61 years old and has been sitting for 40 years untouched. A proper tuneup should be preformed on this car as well replacement of all the wear items should be done as well. The tires are at least40 years old and hold air fine but again 40 year old rubber is not recommended for use. The light all work as well as the power top however the original radio doesn'tseem to be operating.
NO RESERVE THIS ITEM WILL SELL TO THE FINAL BIDDER!This listing includes well over 150 detailed photos in various lighting and the vehicle has been described as descriptive as possible. If there is anything that is unclear or additional information is needed please don't hesitate to ask. Please ask any questions before bidding. Please only bid with the intention to own. Bidding then canceling for "entering the wrong amount" will get you blocked from further bidding. Thanks and Good Luck1959 Ford Sunliner Convertible Commercial
