1934 Ford Coupe Additional Info:
1934 Coupe 5 window Old School Hot Rod project
This 1934 Coupe was parked in the 1950's and just recently pulled out for first time since. I hate the over used phrase “barn find”... but this car really was in a barn since the 50's, with pictures of car recently being pulled out. It appears it was originally a tan car (as visible on the firewall) and the body was painted black in the 40's or 50's with a paint brush, giving it a very cool, worn-out patina look. Much of that paint has worn off or gotten thin over time. This is not a recreated patina. All the original wood is still in the car and seems very nice shape still (look at roof pictures). I have all the original fenders, seat/frame, interior door panels, bumpers, headlights, etc. that I took off and can go with the car if desired.
I am a period correct/traditional hot rodder, planned on building the car. I had the body professionally chopped with a wedge chop (front chopped 1/2” more than the back) giving it an aggressive look and more head room over the driver's seat. Windshield posts are laid back giving traditional salt flat racer look and good visibility. Back window is now a mail slot.
There was one small section on the passenger side floor pan that had a rusted spot so I had new forward floor pans made for the car.
Body has the typical dings, a few dents, etc. for an 85 year old car. Door bottoms are nice. Rocker panels and rear quarter panels has some pin holes and I had the chop shop cut and replace with fresh metal. Frame is obviously original and unaltered.
Have the interior garnish moldings that were also chopped along with the windshield. Original 1934 flathead and running gear is still in the car. Have been soaking cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil in anticipation of rebuilding but have gone no further with too many other projects.
This would make a great TROG racer. If you know how hard it is to find an unrestored, untouched 32-34 Ford Coupe as well as the cost to have professionally chopped correctly, you'll know this is a rare bird. I collect 30's Coupes but it's time to sell a few, so putting this and a few others up for sale. Probably a 32 Coupe next.
I also have picture of this very car in the early 1950's with the original owner. Car is titled, ready to build, title and tag.
I will work with buyer in arraigning shipping if needed. Please call with questions or for more photos.
