1989 Ford Econoline E-350 Van. 7.3 IDI DIESEL Engine, and the venerable C6 Automatic Transmission, 32K Original Miles, both engine and trans believed to be original. Had 1 owner prior to me, which was a rural VFD in Alabama, (I know it says 3, but I assure you, it has belonged to the same department from day 1) and has lived its whole life in Alabama, and has NO RUST, and is therefore a ‘Southern Truck’. CLEAN Alabama Title in Hand.Van was originally ‘up fitted’ by A&A Ambulance in Birmingham, AL. Comes with light bars that are pictured, but, they are currently not connected, nor are the scene lights on the side.
Overall, for a van that is over 30 years old it is in good shape, but is not perfect by any means.
SOME impressions remain from the decals, and some paint scrapes and chips from that. I had SOME of the red touched up after the decals were removed, and there is some minor over spray on the side. Hood has a small dent in it, but that can be easily popped out. Overall, could use some paint work on it.
I had the Air Conditioning working until a valve failed, and the refrigerant leaked out. Once the valve is replaced, and the system recharged the Air Conditioning should work.
I replaced the fuel filter with a new Baldwin Filter, with a built-in water separator, but, I still have the original fuel filter ‘bowl’ that goes with it.
I have had to add oil, but I've not noticed any significant leaks.
Has multiple holes in the roof, including the remains of an older light bar harness. but no leaks.
Van was in service up until earlier this year, when it was put up for sale because of brake issues. The ‘issue’ turned out to be a vacuum pump, which I have replaced.
Also included are the side badges, they just need to be glued or taped back on, parts for trailer wiring, 2 used sun visors, and some Miscellaneous Body Parts that I picked up on a whim. 2 new Baldwin Oil Filters are included too, unless I decide to change the oil, then you will only get one.
3rd Gen Econolines are getting harder to find, especially 'Southern' Low-Mile, 1-owner, Diesel ones. This would be a great candidate for a restoration, a camper van, a 4x4 conversion, or even a 'Movie Prop'. Or, it would make you a great work van. I had big plans for this thing, but I have too many irons in the fire at the moment, so I'll have to let it go.
Van is currently licensed, and insured, I have put over 200 miles on it in the last week, I've had no issues. I'll be driving it some more this week.
