1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Additional Info:
Survivor Mustang purchased by original owner in June 1965 when he was serving in the U.S. Navy. Purchased by current owner from original owner's estate in 1999. Comes with documentation back to June 15, 1965 dealer order form and service records through current 2019 (thick 3-ring binder). 124,xxx documented miles on original, never fully rebuilt engine. Engine assembled in Detroit, Michigan on May 26, 1965, car assembled in Milpitas, California ("San Jose Plant") on June 11, 1965, and delivered and sold at local dealer on June 15, 1965. Car comes with original owner's manual, original keys, and original 1963 issue black and gold California plates. Car was repainted in 1980 when new top, front/rear bumpers, dash pad and sun visors were also installed --> paint is 39 years old and passes "10 foot test". Right rear quarter panel was replaced in 1975 at San Francisco Ford dealer (fender bender, presumably). Isolated rust area at right rear passenger floor pan presumably due to improperly aligned right side rear quarter window. Car comes with proper floor pan sheet metal part sourced from KAR Mustang. Rock chip surface corrosion evident on rocker panels and lower surface of rear quarter panels. Also very small "rust dot" on extreme lower front corner of driver's door (known Mustang problem as the sheet metal pieces come together at that location) -- condition has not changed since 1999 as car never purposely driven in the rain. First ~102,000 miles put on by original owner, so approximately 22,000 miles added since 1999. Chrome and glass near perfect (Carlite emblem embossed windshield believed to be original). No rips in convertible top and rear window still clear. Professionally converted years ago from stock single exhaust system to dual Flowmaster exhaust system.Cylindrical key operated hood lock / coil cut-off switch mounted under dashboard as security measure. Front kick panels replaced early 2000s with custom-fit Pioneer speaker sound system panels (Original AM Radio andspeaker untouched - still works just fine). Clarion amplifier attached to trunk/rear seat cross braces with only zip ties - one hole drilled through firewall to route battery power lead to trunk. Stereo system wiring invisibly routed through underside of centre console, etc., to trunk amplifier, which is hidden under trunk liner. Audio input cord located in centre console compartment (Sony miniplug) for connection to audio source. Transmission rebuilt/replaced late 1990s at ~102,000 miles.
