1971 Ford F100 Additional Info:

1971 Ford F-100 Pickup

Legend has it that early on in the history of Ford Motor Company a noticeable lowercase "e" completed the curl at the back of the cursive F on the Ford name. Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison both had winter estates in Ft. Meyers, Florida, and shared ideas and cigars. One Idea that would make Ford a real innovator was the concept of the assembly line. This original idea came from Edison, and in deference to him and his idea, Henry Ford honored him in his early logo with that "e" on the curl, and as they say the rest is history!

For consignment a worker truck which has been restored a bit, driven a bit, worked a bit, and enjoyed a lot. Our consigner has done some work, admits it's not perfect, but overall a nice example form 1971 that can be reliably driven and used on a daily basis if you wanted to.

Exterior
A few dents and dings, some paint faults, slight wear on the chrome and brite-work, a bed that has been used, but presents nicely. All wrapped in a Torito Red respray from a bit ago. Door handles and gas filler cap have been sprayed to match the truck. Original factory wheel covers are on all 4 corners, and we have a mostly original looking example.

Interior
A large bench seat with tuck and roll broadcloth inside panels, and vinyl bolsters all in glorious red can be seen stretching form door panel to door panel. Doors are original and have tuck and roll vinyl, also in red. A nifty script chromed Ranger badge is imbedded into the bench back in the center. Looking to the dash we see a wonderful warm patina instrument cluster, a look that only age can give. The original steering wheel is in front. Below floats nice red carpet, with some floor mats above. Painted composite board in red is the headliner, and the obligatory gun rack is seen mounted in the rear window.

Drivetrain
As described by the consigner it only left him sit once and that was the battery, the 390ci V8 could be called "Old Faithful." It is not the original engine, but since our consigner has had ownership, the truck has been very reliable. A C6 automatic transmission which is original and has had a rebuild is attached to the back of the replaced engine. In the engine bay we can see a new brake booster and master cylinder, a new steering shaft joint, and have been told a new fuel pump has been put in.

Undercarriage
Some work done here to remediate rust through on the step ups to the cabin, body hangers have missing areas due to former rust problems, and it appears as floorpans have been replaced. The frame remains sound and has been sprayed in black. Surface rust is also present, but other than the areas mentioned merely surface rust. Both glass pack mufflers will need to be replaced as the existing ones have holes in them.

Not perfect, but a self-described reliable worker, this classic truck from 1971 is the essential truck to have up at your cabin, or a backup for the farm. It will not be afraid of seeing some more work and looking good all at the same time.
