1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Restomod Additional Info:
Fully Restored 1970 Mach 1 Mustang, 250 miles since restore, all kinks are out! Every nut, Bolt and wire was either replaced or reconditioned on the beautiful Stang!
351 Cleveland hooked to the factory FMX, after slight mods on the engine it has dyno tested at 330 Hp @ 385 ft lbs of torque.. Not a tire roaster but runs strong and has great drivability. entire body work took a little over 6 months non stop to complete. 5 coats of base color with 7 coats of clear to get the mirror finish you see in the pics. All the striping down to the 351 numbers are all painted. no decals or stickers except for the Thrush ones on the quarter glass that can come right off if you don't like them. I thought they just screamed 1970 so I put them on!
All the rust has been removed from every spot there was any and was replace and plug welded back in just as the factory did it in 1970. NO SHORTCUTS... Take close look at the pics to see the gap tolerances, lots of hours just to make them right.
Suspension system front and rear is completely brand new, Fuel System, Disc brake Conversion up front, wheels & tires, all new weather stripping all fresh out of the box.
Custom headers made by Ford Powertrain Applications in Wa., followed up with Flowmaster mufflers and 2.5 inch pipes
All new carpets and upholstery. headliner is also done however the rods have popped down so it is sagging { just enough to be annoying }. The only way to fix is to remove the front and rear glass to redo the rods or buy a 1 piece headliner from TMI. I chose the latter and ordered and its is in route,{ 6 to 8 weeks } if it is not here I will have it shipped to the cars new home straight from TMI. Very easy to install and the old headliner jus gets cut out, no need to pull the glass.
The car has been to 2 shows and placed 3rd in 2 open restomod classes from 1949 to 1994 all makes. Most of the cars were brought in trailers to the show, I drove this one!
I try to build 2 cars a year then I sell them and move on to the next build. I had a 1970 Mach 1 when I was 16 so I wanted to relive the excitement I had with it back then, I actually topped it with this one.
