1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback
25th Anniversary, 2-Owner history. MOSTLY original.
I bought car in 2012 from original owner in Ohio. Car had 127,000 when I purchased – has 132,000 today. Car is one of the cleanest, most original, unmolested Fox-bodies I have ever seen. Absolutely NO modifications – all stock. I installed new carpeting and recovered all seats in 2012 – interior is like new. Car is garaged.
As a comparison, an almost IDENTICAL light blue 1990 Mustang LX with fewer miles and paint that's a bit more fresh than mine is being auctioned on Ebay now @ $15,000.00 (reserve has been met). That carappears to be abeautiful example of an original car as well. My reserve isVERYreasonable and because there are more miles on my car, it'll sell for less.
99% of everything works (including all interior, in-trunk and under hood lighting). The only thing that needs to be replaced is the driver’s door lock actuator, which is a well-known Fox Body part demon that commonly breaks. I replaced it once, but don’t want to take the time to take the door apart to fix it again (it’s a cheap fix, though). Power windows, AC,power locks, cruise, power trunk, rear defroster, am/fm cassette (I took it out, but still have it), brand new speakers in doors, power mirrors, 3.08 rear end (which isa rare factory option),5 speed manual. Paint (Wild Strawberry) is original and shows fairly well for its age. The front plastic fascia has faded out on both top front ends, but the remaining painted areas on car are pretty good. Typical pebble dings on front edge of hood.
New alternator in 2012. New rear shocks (quads), tiresand fan blade/clutch in 2014. No rust (I had a small rust patch on rear lower driver’s quarter removed, repaired in 2014. I have new front struts and sway bar end links/bushings that I have not installed, but will go with the car. Car is not perfect and with it's age and originality, it will likely need old parts replaced, etc as times goes on, but overall, car is in GREAT condition! Original VIN tags on ALL body parts andfactory Buck Tag still attached to radiator support brace. Both sets of keys are ORIGINAL. Has rare painted-on pinstripe that is original as well. I have a Marti Report that outlines the history of the car, how is was optioned/built at the factory and how it compares to other Mustangs built in 1990.
What’s wrong:
-Driver’s door lock actuator (see above)
-Small dent at front edge of hood where previous owner clipped a deer (photo)
-Lengthy paint scratch and small dent just behind driver’s door (photo)
-Faded paint on front fascia ends (photo)
I'm selling car because I've had my time with it - time to move on to something else. Car is for sale locally as well and I've had a number of fairly strong offers, but none quite at what I want out of the sale(close, but not quite there), so I'm auctioning the car in hopes of getting what I'm asking.
Compare this car to similar other Fox bodies that have been up for sale on Ebay lately - my reserve is set at a VERY fair level. I don't believe that the buyer of this car will be disappointed and although Fox bodies aren't exactly full-fledged collectables, the condition and originality of this car make it fairly unique.
I reserve the right to end auction at any time if car sells locally.
