1965 Ford Thunderbird
This car has less than 23,500 original miles.
VIN Number 5Y83Z109948
This is an original car from Colorado that was purchased from the second owner who only used this car on special occasions for years, and when he stopped driving it, he stored the car in their dry garage for years until they decided to sell it. All the bolts and screws turned right out by hand while we worked on the car. This car is complete rust free there was no rust anywhere on this car.
The engine is a 390 with factory air, both the engine and engine bay is all painted. The carburetor was cleaned and rebuilt, the fuel pump and rubber lines were replaced; oils and filters were changed; and new spark plugs and wires, along with a new interstate battery were installed. I have new wireless points that I did not install as the engine is quiet and runs smoothly with the original points, the new wireless points are included with the car.
The rear wheel cylinders and shoes, and pads on the front calipers have been replaced with all new break fluid.
New front shocks, new rear coil spring overload shocks so you have the same nice ride, the overloads come in when have passengers in the back seat and or heavy load in the trunk.
The fluid and filter have been replaced. The transmission works and shifts good, it is quiet and smooth. The front seal and shift lever seal were leaking, so I had pulled the transmission to be resealed at Mr. Transmission.
Completely rust free. There was no rust anywhere.
Cleaned, Sanded, and Painted with Rust- ileum paint. Other Items or areas including, the head light housings and behind them, under the fenders, the fender wells, the core support, trunk bottom and inner quarter fenders, behind and back side of all the bumpers, under the entire car.
After, the trunk was painted with Rust- ileum paint. Then painted with stone paint that looks nice.
All chrome inside and out was removed and polished by hand with rubbing compound and polished again with chrome cleaner.
The front bumper was a new OME one that came with the car. The second owner said he put had put a dent in the bumper when hit a high curb. At that time he purchased the new bumper and parked the car in his garage with intentions to put the new bumper on and had never did and the car sat in his garage for years.
The rear bumper looks very nice.
I took the inter out of the car cleaned, Sanded, and Painted with Rust- ileum paint. All interior areas including ceiling, fire wall under the dash when it was out, inside floors, inside the doors,
The dash was heat cracked and the head liner seam was coming apart.
I purchased a parts car with an excellent dash the same color. I removed the dash and installed the new dash.
Heat shield and sound denser installed in the interior of the car in the ceiling, floorboards, behind the back seat. To help keep passengers cool and quiet the interior of the car to make it more enjoyable experience.
The steel pieces inside the car were all hand sanded and repainted with automotive paint and clear coated with a color that complement the outside and the inside seat colors.
All interior chrome was polished by hand with rubbing compound and polished again with chrome cleaner.
A new headliner was installed along with new carpet and padding.
Installed a very nice custom steering wheel with a working horn button. The original complete steering wheel that is in nice condition, comes with the car.
Little items that you may not even notice, such as, all new interior light bulbs, interior screws and fasteners, all new rubber, bumpers, gaskets, weather strips, interior light lenses, and other items their well over $1500.00 of these small miscellaneous parts purchased from the Bird Nest, T-Bird Specialists, parts suppliers.
A Retro Stereo Rc900c with custom front and rear speakers was professionally installed. The stereo looks like the original factory version, it has Am/Fm and an input for phone music with a built-in amp.
All the glass is nice.
New gaskets, bulbs, the rear light housing and behind it on the car body were sanded and painted with rust-ileum paint, and the lenses were polished. The old sequential blinker unit was removed, and a new solid-state sequential blinker trouble free system was installed.
Installed new halogen headlights, they are a glass scalloped lenses, which are brighter than original ones, they have blue led light rings around the inside of the lenses wired into a separate switch up under the dash.
The paint was faded and had some small dings. I removed all the chrome and accessories, even including the front and rear window. I prepped the car by sanding it and all the hard areas that normal body shops may not pay attention to. Then I sent it to a professional body and paint shop that have a downdraft/ bake paint booth. The car was all cut in everywhere even the windshield and rear glass was taken out, you cannot see the color change. They sanded and primed with the best primer, they fixed any dings, then block sanded and painted the car a Black to check for any imperfections. Then they blocked sanded again with very fine sandpaper and painted the car Blue Flame Blue and cleared the car twice. It looks amazing. Something put a scuffed the car just behind the driver door it in one of the pictures. The car has not been buffed or waxed.
Fender Skirts: Were cleaned, sanded and painted inside with rustoleum, the fender Skirts were painted separately with the car, they are ready to go on when wanted.
The rear side window on the drivers was working then it quit going down.
The car needs key locks, I planned to order key alike ignition, door locks and trunk lock which I never got around to.
The needs, air conditioning needs to be charging.
The door panels have some usual cracking, I started to fix them, I used a Dremel to grind the crack down to solid material. Then used hot glue gun with Gorilla hot glue sticks and filling them up flush. Once complete done I planned to take to an upholstery shop and have color matching vinyl glued to the center of the door panels.
Also planned to order new original carpet for the bottom of the doors.
I personally do not like the original wood grain look of the front dash panel and top piece of the center panel. I planned to send them out to have hydro dip. That why I did not finish installing them back in the car.
The picture with the trunk lid did not close all the way is because their no trunk key lock installed, to lock it down.
The picture the inside after the old felt type insulation material removed, cleaned and painted, heat shield/sound denser installed. I was getting ready to install the new dash.
There pictures of the car when I started to get ready to paint, This car was and is rust free.

The car was put in storage. I put Stabil in gas tank before driving to storage. I fogged the engine through the carburetor while running. It been parked in storage since last year.
I had no intention to sell this car my car restoration was to bring this car a little better than when it was new, some things have been added or updated to make it a more enjoyable car. I haven’t had or made time to finished, it needs very little to complete finished.
