1973 Ford Pinto
This car is a blast to drive around. It makes a great running project with only simple things that need attention. It is reading 91000 miles at the moment, which is really only just broken in for these reliable little cars.
With its 4 cyl engine, the car is excellent on gas. It was Fords plan when they built these to make them as simple, reliable and economical to run as possible. The car has plenty of pick up and can easily keep up with modern traffic. The transmission shifts well without and grinding or synchro issues. There aren’t any fluid leaks and most everything works. Parts are everywhere for these cars and they are very easy to work on.
The best part of this little car is its engine. Its powered by the same 2.0L 4cyl as the Legendary Lotus Cortina (Essentially a rebranded ford racecar). Although this is no performance car, with its cushy suspension and current gearbox, it certainly feels incredibly light and nimble. It really is a very fun car to drive and a real disappointment to sell. In its current state, it would make a great starting point for a really fun track car or custom build. It has excellent bones and absolutely no rust. The car is solid and would make a great daily as it is right now.
Known Issues (There may be problems that I don’t know about)
-Front Grill is a custom fabrication and therefore not correct
-Interior is missing some parts, most of them are in the trunk and just not simply installed
-The dash pad is not correct
-Seats are not in good shape, but they are covered
-No carpet in the vehicle
-Exhaust Leaks at the muffler and various rattles and squeaks
